Job Purpose
The Assistant Pollination Manager will coordinate and supervise pollination and emasculation activities to ensure high seed quality, genetic purity and production efficiency.
The role will also involve managing teams, coordinating crop activities and resources, maintaining accurate production records, ensuring compliance with company protocols, and supporting continuous improvement of greenhouse and seed production operations.
Key Responsibilities
1. Pollination and Emasculation Operations
- Coordinate and supervise pollination and emasculation activities.
- Ensure production targets and established operational standards are achieved.
- Maintain required seed quality and genetic purity.
- Monitor pollination activities to ensure they are performed correctly and efficiently.
2. Team Management and Development
- Lead, supervise, coach and develop pollination teams.
- Allocate workers effectively according to operational requirements.
- Monitor team productivity and discipline.
- Ensure employees follow established work standards and procedures.
- Support workforce development and skills improvement.
3. Crop and Production Monitoring
- Monitor crop performance and pollination activities.
- Identify operational deviations and quality concerns.
- Ensure appropriate corrective actions are implemented.
- Escalate production and quality issues when necessary.
- Support the achievement of established production targets.
4. Records, Data and Reporting
- Maintain accurate production records and operational data.
- Prepare and submit reports within required timelines.
- Ensure effective traceability of production activities.
- Maintain accurate documentation to support seed production quality.
- Communicate relevant production information effectively to internal and international stakeholders.
5. Labour and Resource Management
- Coordinate the availability of labour required for pollination and greenhouse activities.
- Ensure effective utilization of labour.
- Coordinate materials and other operational resources required for uninterrupted operations.
- Monitor resource utilization and ensure proper accountability.
6. Compliance and Operational Improvement
- Ensure compliance with:
- Hygiene requirements
- Health and safety standards
- Environmental requirements
- Quality standards
- Farm protocols
- Support continuous improvement of pollination and greenhouse operations.
- Assist in resolving and escalating production or infrastructure issues.
- Promote high standards of quality and operational efficiency.
Qualifications and Requirements
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Horticulture or a related field.
Experience
- 3–5 years of relevant experience in one or more of the following:
- Pollination operations
- Greenhouse production
- Seed production
- Agricultural production management
Technical Knowledge
Candidates should have strong knowledge of:
- Seed production.
- Pollination techniques.
- Emasculation techniques.
- Varietal purity requirements.
- Crop production practices.
- Controlled seed production environments.
Leadership and Management Skills
- Proven ability to lead and supervise teams.
- Effective labour allocation and workforce coordination.
- Ability to maintain operational discipline.

- Strong organizational and coordination skills.

- Strong production administration skills.
