Job Purpose Statement
The Branch Manager will provide effective leadership to the branch and its agencies by driving business growth, developing a high-performing team, delivering exceptional customer experience, and ensuring strong operational standards and risk management.
The role is responsible for the day-to-day management of the branch, maintaining excellent banking operations, regulatory compliance, and achieving profitability targets.
Key Responsibilities
1. Financial & Business Growth (60%)
- Develop and implement strategic initiatives to increase new business and expand existing customer relationships.
- Monitor branch performance, maintain accurate records, and provide regular reports to the Regional Branch Manager and relevant business units.
- Manage portfolio risks in line with the bank’s risk appetite.
- Collaborate with Asset Finance, Commercial Banking, Consumer Banking, Direct Sales, Bancassurance, Securities, and other departments to maximize cross-selling opportunities.
- Manage borrowing and non-borrowing accounts to enhance customer loyalty, minimize losses, and drive growth.
- Conduct product reviews based on market feedback and customer needs.
- Perform market intelligence to identify industry trends, regulatory changes, and business opportunities.
- Prepare and review the branch’s annual strategy based on market potential and geographic strengths.
2. Internal Controls & Risk Management (10%)
- Ensure compliance with branch controls, security procedures, operational processes, and business continuity plans.
- Maintain compliance with NCBA policies, KYC requirements, AML regulations, and operational risk standards.
- Ensure timely and accurate reporting, management of cheque referrals, collection of fees, and effective cost control.
- Maintain satisfactory audit ratings by addressing audit exceptions promptly.
- Conduct supervisory checks and ensure compliance with branch procedures.
3. Customer Experience (10%)
- Deliver exceptional customer service while achieving business targets.
- Ensure adherence to turnaround time (TAT) standards and service quality expectations.
- Coordinate customer feedback initiatives and resolve complaints promptly.
- Maintain high branch appearance standards.
- Ensure availability and reliability of banking channels including ATMs, CDMs, and other digital services.
- Build strong customer relationships through proactive engagement.
4. Brand, Product & Business Proposition (10%)
- Provide guidance to branch staff on business priorities, market opportunities, and competitor activities.
- Ensure effective execution of marketing campaigns and promotional activities.
- Monitor product performance and sales results.
- Build relationships with key customers, business leaders, and community stakeholders.
- Support business development activities and represent the bank at marketing, CSR, and community events.
- Coordinate branding activities with Marketing and Communications teams.
5. Learning, Growth & People Management (10%)
- Build and maintain a motivated, high-performing branch team.
- Set performance objectives and conduct regular performance reviews.
- Provide coaching, mentorship, and professional development support.
- Ensure effective workforce planning and succession management.
- Manage employee performance, disciplinary matters, and grievances.
- Ensure staff complete required learning hours through internal training and e-learning platforms.
Job Specifications
Academic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a business-related field with an Upper Second Class or minimum GPA of 3.0.
- Master’s degree will be an added advantage.
Professional Qualifications
- AKIB, CPA (K), CSAPs, or other relevant banking/professional certifications.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and banking systems.
Experience Requirements
- Minimum of 8 years’ experience in the banking industry.
- Strong exposure to:

- At least 4 years in a management role, including:
- Branch operations leadership experience.
- Business development responsibilities.
- Proven record of consistently exceeding business targets.
