Job Purpose
The Brewing Manager will lead and coordinate all brewing department activities, taking overall responsibility for people, plant, process, product quality, and management systems. The role ensures compliance with company and global brewing standards while delivering safe, efficient, reliable, and high-quality production.
Key Responsibilities
Occupational Health, Safety & Quality
- Ensure compliance with occupational health, safety, and risk management standards.
- Achieve brewery quality and taste targets.
- Ensure consistent production reliability.
- Optimize brewing processes and maximize plant availability and asset performance.
Brewing Strategy & Implementation
- Translate and implement brewing strategies aligned with manufacturing and business objectives.
- Ensure disciplined execution of standard brewing work practices.
- Maintain compliance with brewing process and brand standards.
- Conduct brewing technical and brand audits according to the quality assurance schedule.
- Manage identified deviations through the non-conformance management process.
- Champion ongoing process improvements using VPO tools, routines, and best practices.
- Ensure adherence to Brewing and IBMS technical and business audit schedules.
- Participate in product tasting and quality evaluation activities.
People Management
- Lead and develop the brewing team to promote ownership, accountability, and collaboration.
- Facilitate team problem-solving and decision-making.
- Manage employees in line with AB InBev leadership practices.
- Develop and communicate departmental goals.
- Conduct regular performance reviews and one-on-one coaching sessions.
- Identify training needs and implement development plans.
- Promote competency development and cross-skilling within the team.
- Coach and mentor Brewing Levels 1, 2, and 3 personnel.
- Supervise technical trainees and actively support their development and certification.
Brewing Optimization
- Continuously improve brewing quality and production efficiency.
- Analyze plant performance data to identify improvement opportunities.
- Investigate recurring equipment failures and implement root-cause solutions.
- Integrate continuous improvement initiatives into team performance objectives.
- Prepare and manage departmental budgets.
- Monitor and control monthly financial performance using Short Interval Control (SIC).
Minimum Qualifications
Applicants should possess:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Biological Sciences, Chemistry, or Chemical Engineering.
- Institute of Brewing & Distilling (IBD) Brewing Diploma (mandatory).
- SAB Ltd Brewing Traineeship or an AB InBev certified equivalent.
- Minimum 8–10 years of production experience, including at least 5 years in a Brewing Management role.
- Demonstrated experience in making commercial decisions within a brewery environment, covering financial, operational, and people management.
- Strong working knowledge of:
- VPO (Voyager Plant Optimization)
- SAP modules
- NOSA Safety Standards and requirements
