Equity Bank Tanzania Limited is looking for a Business Development Service (BDS) Mentor to join the Commercial department. This role is dedicated to building the capacity of micro, medium, and small enterprises (MSMEs) through targeted mentorship and coaching within assigned programs.

Job Purpose

The BDS Mentor is responsible for the growth of MSMEs by providing individual and group coaching sessions to bridge business gaps and improve overall performance.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

MSME Enrollment: Mobilize and enroll MSMEs into the BDS assigned programs.
Business Diagnosis: Conduct in-depth diagnoses and baseline surveys to identify business gaps and establish initial status.
Mentorship: Deliver demand-driven individual and group mentorship sessions to allocated MSMEs.
Financial & Market Linkages: Ensure supported MSMEs access financial services from Equity Group and facilitate market linkages and business networks.
Monitoring & Evaluation: Perform end-line surveys to capture business status after support and provide periodical progress reports.
Impact Documentation: Document and share success stories and lessons learned throughout the implementation process.
Material Development: Participate in creating and updating BDS support materials.

Core Accountabilities and Deliverables

Financial: Focus on the generation of loans and new accounts.
Reporting: Maintain consistent reporting processes through designated systems.
Client Development: Deliver effective training to project customers and beneficiaries.

Qualifications and Experience

Education: University degree in Entrepreneurship, Business Management, or a related field. Alternatively, any university degree supplemented by a Diploma in Entrepreneurship or Business Management.
Certifications: Must be a certified trainer, with priority given to those with BOT/ILO-SIYB training certifications.
Experience: 4+ years of proven practical experience in supporting MSMEs with training, mentorship, and advisory services.
Internal Candidates: Must have supported MSMEs at EBTL for at least 2 years and achieved a performance appraisal score of 3.1 or above.
Added Advantage: Practical experience in running and managing a personal business.

Key Skills and Competencies

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a focus on adult learning principles.
Strong facilitation skills for diverse business audiences.
Clear understanding of how MSMEs utilize ICT.
High level of personal discipline and self-initiative.
