Job Description
The Chief Accountant will be responsible for managing the treasury function and credit control, improving accounting systems, and providing management with accurate financial information to support decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
- Review weekly and monthly MCL performance and provide financial advice accordingly.
- Forecast cash requirements and advise on investment of surplus funds.
- Appraise staff, identify training needs, and develop training programs to enhance skills.
- Approve payment requests and facilitate processing of payments.
- Recommend credit levels and opening of accounts for customers.
- Monitor customer performance in compliance with credit terms.
- Ensure completeness of revenue by comparing marketing statistics with financial information.
- Review SAP system performance and continuously recommend improvements.
- Resolve SAP system outstanding issues in liaison with IT and Circulation technical staff.
- Review and consolidate the Division’s and Subsidiaries’ performances, highlighting areas of concern to management.
- Prepare audit information for MCL audits and resolve audit queries.
- Liaise with tax consultants on resolution of pending issues and ensure tax compliance.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Finance or equivalent from a recognized institution.
- 5–7 years of relevant work experience.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) qualification.
