Position Details
Job Title: Construction Support Resource
📍 Location: Zanzibar, Tanzania
📄 Contract Type: Fixed-Term Contract (2 Years)
🕒 Working Hours: 37.5 Hours per Week (5 Days per Week)
Important Note
This position will be filled locally under the contractual conditions applicable in the respective country. Expatriation is not intended.
Core Purpose
The Construction Support Resource will act as a Technical Specialist supporting established projects and programs by providing technical analysis and advice related to construction and infrastructure development.
The successful candidate will support the Programme Planning and Implementation Division and lead the design, planning, implementation, monitoring, and reporting of CBM’s construction projects, with a primary focus on healthcare facilities.
Key Responsibilities
Project Planning & Design
- Coordinate the planning and design processes of medium to large construction projects, particularly healthcare facilities.
- Support CBM partner organizations, local architectural firms, CBM Country Offices, and the Institutional Donors Division during project planning and implementation.
- Integrate sustainable, accessible, and cost-effective design solutions into projects.
- Incorporate feedback from hospital management, pediatric specialists, and CBM representatives into project designs.
Project Implementation & Supervision
- Conduct site supervision and provide regular progress reports on construction projects.
- Coordinate tendering processes and support the selection of construction contractors.
- Monitor project implementation to ensure quality standards are achieved.
- Coordinate project delivery with structural, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing consultants.
Compliance & Quality Assurance
- Ensure compliance with local and international health and safety regulations.
- Ensure all designs and construction activities comply with accessibility standards.
- Promote universal design and disability-inclusive infrastructure.
- Maintain proper reporting and documentation throughout all project phases.
Qualifications and Requirements
Education
- University Degree in:
- Architecture
- Construction Engineering
- Civil Engineering
- Structural Engineering
- Or a related field
Professional Requirements
- Valid professional license in the relevant field.
- Proven experience in the design of healthcare facilities, preferably pediatric units.
- Experience in tendering and awarding construction services for public-sector projects.
- Strong portfolio demonstrating similar projects.
Technical Skills
- Proficiency in architectural and design software, including:
- AutoCAD
- Revit
- 3D Modelling Tools (advantageous)
- Familiarity with local building regulations and international healthcare design standards.
Additional Skills and Experience
- Excellent communication and project management skills.
- Experience in accessibility infrastructure, universal design, and disability inclusion is an added advantage.
- Ability to coordinate multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders effectively.
