Container Operations Coordinator
Job Function
The Container Operations Coordinator is responsible for ensuring the efficient, accurate, and timely movement and storage of containers within the terminal. The role involves coordinating with various stakeholders, including shipping lines, logistics companies, customs authorities, and terminal operations teams, to manage cargo flow in accordance with schedules and regulatory requirements.
Key Performance Areas
Cargo Documentation and System Management
- Ensure manifests and BAPLIE files are available and updated in Zodiac.
- Verify that Import BAPLIE data matches the manifest, including container numbers and Master Bills of Lading.
- Ensure Ports of Discharge (POD) are updated for every vessel visit.
- Ensure amendments to places of delivery are updated and customers are notified accordingly.
- Ensure transit codes are available for both import and export cargo.
Regulatory Compliance and Reporting
- Submit loading results reports in TANCIS for every vessel visit.
- Submit discharge reports in TANCIS for every vessel visit.
- Ensure short-landed and overlanded containers are reported to shipping lines and that TANCIS approvals are obtained.
- Coordinate transit cargo stuffing and export activities through TANCIS.
- Ensure physical verification reports are submitted as required.
Customer and Stakeholder Coordination
- Notify shipping lines regarding export pre-load containers for every vessel visit.
- Ensure customers receive booking notifications for container physical verification through TeSWS.
- Notify customers of overstayed cargo based on yard age reports.
- Coordinate with Customs, DP World Customer Service, Billing, Equipment Control, and Yard Planning teams on container physical verification processes.
Yard and Container Management
- Ensure scanned container lists in TANCIS match records in Zodiac.
- Prepare and submit daily yard stock and aging reports internally and update the information in TANCIS.
- Ensure handling requirements for high-risk and dangerous cargo are properly communicated to yard and vessel planners.
- Coordinate simple container transfers between terminals through TANCIS.
Qualifications Required
- Bachelor’s Degree in:
- Logistics
- Transport Management
- Shipping and Port Management
- Maritime Studies
- Supply Chain Management
- Or a related field
Experience and Skills Required
- 3–5 years of experience in container terminal operations.
- Strong understanding of the TANCIS portal.
- Experience working with Container Terminal Operating Systems.
- Excellent computer skills, particularly in Microsoft Excel.
- Strong analytical and decision-making abilities.
- Goal-oriented with a focus on achieving operational targets.
- Strong communication and coordination skills.
