Job Summary
The Data Protection & Information Security Analyst supports both internal operations and client-facing engagements to ensure compliance with the Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA) 2022 and alignment with ISO/IEC 27001:2022 information security standards.
The role focuses on safeguarding the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of information assets through monitoring, risk management, compliance assurance, and security awareness activities.
Key Responsibilities
1. Data Protection & Privacy Compliance
- Support implementation and maintenance of the organization’s data protection framework
- Assist in developing and maintaining the Record of Processing Activities (ROPA)
- Conduct Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) and recommend mitigation measures
- Review data processing agreements and contracts for PDPA 2022 compliance
- Assist in handling Data Subject Access Requests (DSARs) and privacy incidents
- Monitor cross-border data transfer compliance
- Support preparation of compliance and audit reports for management and regulators
2. Information Security Operations
- Implement, monitor, and improve security controls under ISO-aligned Integrated Management System (IMS)
- Conduct risk assessments and support mitigation planning
- Participate in vulnerability assessments and coordinate remediation efforts
- Monitor logs, alerts, and security incidents
- Support development and maintenance of Information Security Management System (ISMS) documentation
- Coordinate security awareness and training programs
3. Governance, Policy & Awareness
- Develop and maintain data protection and information security policies and procedures
- Conduct cybersecurity and privacy awareness training for staff and stakeholders
- Collaborate with IT, Legal, HR, and other departments to embed security practices
4. Incident Management & Reporting
- Participate in incident response (investigation, containment, reporting)
- Maintain incident registers and prepare reports for management and DPO
- Support business continuity and disaster recovery activities
Requirements
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Information Security, or related field
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in information security or data protection
- Knowledge of data protection, information security, or quality management systems
- Familiarity with Tanzania PDPA 2022, GDPR, or similar regulations
- Strong documentation and record-keeping skills
Preferred Certifications
(Any of the following is an advantage)
- ISO/IEC 27001 Foundation / Implementer / Auditor
- ISO 9001 Internal Auditor
- CompTIA Security+, CEH, or equivalent
- Data Protection / Privacy certifications
- ISACA CISM or CISA
