The Embassy of the Republic of Korea in the United Republic of Tanzania invites applications from qualified and highly motivated candidates for the position of Economic Affairs Specialist (Local Researcher).

Position Details

  • Position: Economic Affairs Specialist (Local Researcher)

  • Duty Station: Embassy of the Republic of Korea, Dar es Salaam
  • Employment Type: Full-time, Fixed-term Contract
  • Contract Duration: Less than one year (to be agreed upon through mutual consultation)
  • Probation Period: 3 months

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will:

  • Monitor, research, and analyze major economic developments in Tanzania and East Africa, including:
    • Trade and Investment
    • Energy
    • Natural Resources
    • Minerals
    • Other economic issues
  • Prepare:
    • Analytical reports
    • Policy briefs
    • Briefing notes
    • Presentations
  • Monitor economic laws, regulations, government policies, and administrative measures in Tanzania and the wider East African region.

Qualifications

Applicants must meet one of the following requirements:

  • Master’s degree or higher in a field related to economic security; or
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field with at least five (5) years of relevant professional experience.

Applicants must also be legally eligible to work in Tanzania.


Required Skills & Competencies

Applicants should possess:

  • Excellent written and spoken English and Kiswahili.
  • Strong research, analytical, and report-writing skills.
  • Good knowledge of Tanzania’s economic, legal, regulatory, and business environment.
  • Strong communication, networking, and interpersonal skills.
  • Professionalism, integrity, discipline, and discretion.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint.
  • Strong organizational and proactive work habits.

Salary & Benefits

Gross Monthly Salary: USD 1,500 (All-inclusive)

The monthly salary covers the employee’s entire contractual cash remuneration.

The Embassy will not provide additional:

  • Bonuses

  • Medical allowance
  • Communication allowance
  • Relocation allowance
  • Gratuity
  • Performance incentives
  • Contract severance payments
  • Any other cash allowances

Applicable taxes and statutory deductions will be deducted from the gross salary in accordance with Tanzanian law.


Probation & Contract Terms

  • Three-month probation period.
  • Performance will be assessed during probation.
  • Successful completion of probation does not guarantee contract renewal.
  • The position is strictly fixed-term and carries no expectation of permanent employment.
