About the Organization
The Foundation For Tomorrow (TFFT) is an international NGO working to provide inclusive education and psychosocial support to orphaned and vulnerable children in Tanzania.
Through its Community Learning Centre in Usa River, TFFT is expanding its work to include an entrepreneurship incubator supporting founders of nonprofits, social enterprises and job-creating businesses in the Arusha region.
About the Opportunity
TFFT is looking for a builder rather than simply an administrator to establish and lead its new Entrepreneurship Incubator.
The Program Director will develop the program from its existing framework, recruit participants, build partnerships, provide coaching, connect entrepreneurs with finance and markets, and establish systems for measuring long-term results.
The program will support cohorts of 15–20 participants, with participants remaining connected to the incubator for 18 months.
Key Program Areas
The first six months will focus on:
- Idea validation and cohort formation
- Organizational design and market research
- Developing and testing pilots or first products
- Pitch and funding preparation
- Public Launch Day
The following year will provide:
- Growth support
- Coaching and mentorship
- Workspace and resources
- Market and funding connections
- Continued technical support
Alumni will remain connected to the network and may return as mentors for future cohorts.
Key Responsibilities
1. Design and Build the Program
- Develop the curriculum and program structure.
- Create appropriate tracks for nonprofits and businesses.
- Develop training sessions and coaching systems.
- Organize Launch Day.
- Design the post-intensive support period.
- Manage cohort scheduling.
- Determine how Centre facilities and digital resources will be used.
- Continuously evaluate and improve the program.
2. Recruit and Select Participants
Develop an inclusive application and selection process targeting:
- Entrepreneurs
- Women running businesses
- First-time nonprofit founders
- People with limited formal education
- Social enterprise founders
Selection should focus on potential and commitment rather than credentials alone.
3. Teach, Facilitate and Coach
- Conduct group training sessions.
- Provide individual coaching.
- Identify participants who are struggling and intervene early.
- Give honest and constructive feedback on business ideas and progress.
4. Build Strategic Networks
Develop relationships with:
- Businesses
- NGOs and civil society organizations
- Legal professionals
- Financial institutions
- Government institutions
- Entrepreneurs and mentors
Connect participants with the people, capital and customers necessary for growth.
5. Develop Financing Pathways
Build relationships with:
- Banks
- Microfinance institutions
- SACCOs
- VSLAs
- Credit guarantee schemes
- Angel investors
- Grant funders
Help participants develop the financial records, bookkeeping and transaction history required to become financially credible.
The Director will also support nonprofit founders to develop sustainable fundraising strategies.
6. Support Legal Registration and Compliance
Provide practical support around:
- BRELA registration
- TRA requirements
- Local business licences
- NGO Board requirements
- Governance and compliance
A legally registered and compliant entity should be treated as an important program outcome.
7. Connect Ventures to Markets
The Director will:
- Develop market linkages.
- Introduce participants to buyers.
- Build supplier relationships.
- Develop procurement opportunities.
- Help participants reach their first paying customers or funded partnerships.
Potential institutional buyers include schools, hotels, hospitals, processors and government institutions.
8. Expand Regional and International Exposure
Build relationships with:
- Tanzanian and East African entrepreneurship ecosystems
- AfriLabs and similar networks
- International funders
- Investors
- Buyers
- Global entrepreneurship platforms
The Director will also promote participants and their success stories.
9. Manage the Alumni Network
- Keep graduates connected.
- Develop the alumni community.
- Bring alumni back as mentors.
- Create opportunities for alumni collaboration.
10. Manage the Program Budget
- Prepare and monitor the program budget.
- Track expenditure.
- Prepare forecasts.
- Explain budget variances.
- Monitor the cost of supporting participants and active ventures.
11. Safeguarding and Conflict of Interest
The Director must ensure:
- Participant safety and well-being.
- Protection of participant privacy.
- Compliance with safeguarding policies.
- Confidential reporting mechanisms.
- Proper declaration and management of conflicts of interest.
- Compliance with Tanzania’s data protection requirements.
12. Monitoring, Evaluation and Reporting
Establish a measurement system before the first cohort begins.
Track indicators including:
- Ventures launched
- Jobs created
- Funding raised
- Businesses still operating
- Organizations remaining registered
- Participant progress
- Gender-disaggregated outcomes
Follow-up should occur at 6, 12 and 24 months.

During the first year, emphasis will be placed on:
- Recruiting appropriate participants
- Maintaining participant engagement
- Supporting business registration
- Establishing financial records
- Connecting participants to funding
- Helping ventures generate initial revenue
- Recruiting and matching mentors

Who TFFT Is Looking For
TFFT specifically wants an entrepreneur and builder who has personally started or helped build something.
The ideal candidate should have:
- Real startup or entrepreneurship experience
- Strong business-development capability
- Program design and implementation experience
- Coaching and mentoring ability
- Strong networking and relationship-building skills
- Fluency in Swahili and English
- Practical understanding of the Tanzanian business environment
- Strong financial management skills
- Good judgment and integrity
- Commitment to gender equity and inclusion

Required Qualifications
Candidates must have:
- At least 5 years of experience in entrepreneurship, startups, business development, social enterprise or nonprofit leadership.
- At least 2 years of hands-on operational experience involving money, people or delivery.
- Direct experience founding, building or leading an organization or venture.
- Experience facilitating adult training, workshops or programs.
- Demonstrated mentoring/coaching experience.
- Practical financial management skills, including:
- Budgeting
- Cash flow
- Pricing
- Financial reporting
- Experience registering or running a legally compliant entity in Tanzania.
- Strong written and spoken Swahili and English.
- Willingness to work in or relocate to the Arusha region.
- Willingness to undergo safeguarding checks, including criminal-record and reference checks.
Strongly Preferred
Additional advantages include:
- Experience with an incubator or accelerator.
- Entrepreneurship experience in East Africa.
- Knowledge of BRELA, TRA and NGO Board procedures.
- Established Tanzanian business or civil-society networks.
