Job Purpose

Bravo Group is seeking an experienced, technically competent and technology-driven Equipment Operations Manager to oversee heavy equipment operations across all Bravo Group dry ports and logistics terminals.

Scope of the Role

The role is responsible for the management of equipment deployment, operators, productivity, maintenance coordination, safety, asset records and operating costs across all dry ports and logistics terminals. This includes diesel and electric vehicle (EV) equipment, energy controls and digital performance monitoring.

Key Responsibilities

1. Lead and coordinate the deployment and operation of all cargo-handling equipment across Bravo Group facilities.
2. Manage equipment including reach stackers, empty container handlers, forklifts, weighing equipment, box loaders and other heavy cargo-handling machinery.
3. Ensure maximum equipment availability, utilization, productivity and operational reliability across all terminals.
4. Plan daily and weekly equipment deployment according to container volumes, cargo forecasts and operational requirements across ICD, CFS and Bulk Terminal operations.
5. Manage and supervise equipment operators, including shift planning, allocation, training, certification, performance and discipline.
6. Establish productivity standards for each equipment category and monitor moves per hour, operating hours, utilization, idle time and cost per move.
7. Develop and enforce preventive and predictive maintenance programs in coordination with maintenance/workshop teams to minimize equipment breakdowns and downtime.
8. Maintain real-time visibility of equipment status, including operational, standby, under-maintenance and out-of-service equipment across all locations.
9. Establish strong controls over diesel consumption, EV charging and overall energy efficiency, including cost analysis by equipment and operating hour.
10. Lead the operational transition toward electric cargo-handling equipment, including charging planning, battery management, operator training and monitoring of EV performance against diesel equipment.
11. Monitor equipment condition, tyres, batteries, hydraulic systems, lifting systems and other critical components and ensure defects are reported and addressed promptly.
12. Ensure all equipment is operated within manufacturer specifications, safe working loads and approved operating procedures.
13. Establish and enforce pre-operation and post-operation inspection procedures for all equipment.
14. Lead equipment-related safety management, including incident investigation, damage reporting, operator accountability and corrective actions.
15. Work closely with Terminal Managers and Operations teams to minimize truck waiting time, container handling time, vessel/rail interface delays and cargo turnaround time.
16. Participate in evaluation and procurement of new equipment, including assessment of capacity, technology, lifecycle cost, energy efficiency and operational suitability.
17. Maintain equipment asset registers, operating-hour records, maintenance histories, operator records and certification documentation.
18. Prepare daily, weekly and monthly management dashboards covering availability, utilization, productivity, downtime, fuel/energy consumption, maintenance and operating costs.
19. Drive Bravo Group’s digital transformation agenda within Equipment Operations, including telematics, equipment tracking, digital inspections, automated maintenance alerts, operator-performance monitoring and real-time equipment dashboards.
20. Continuously benchmark diesel versus EV equipment performance, including productivity, energy consumption, maintenance costs, downtime and total cost of ownership.

Qualifications and Experience

• Expertise in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Heavy Equipment Engineering, Port/Terminal Operations, Logistics or a related discipline.
• Minimum 5 years’ relevant experience managing heavy equipment or cargo-handling operations, preferably in a supervisory or managerial role.
• Practical experience with reach stackers, empty container handlers, heavy forklifts and other terminal equipment is highly desirable.
• Experience in ports, ICD/CFS, container terminals, dry ports, mining, bulk terminals or other heavy industrial operations is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of equipment productivity, preventive maintenance, safety and operating-cost management.
• Knowledge or experience with electric heavy equipment, lithium battery systems and charging infrastructure will be a strong advantage.
• Experience with telematics, equipment management systems and digital performance analytics is desirable.
