About the School
Haven of Peace Academy (HOPAC) is a faith-based international Christian school operated by Haven of Peace Trust. Established in 1994, the school serves a diverse student community including missionary families, expatriates, and Tanzanian families working across various sectors.
The school is located in Kunduchi, at the junction of Salasala Road and Bagamoyo Road, Kinondoni Municipality, Dar es Salaam.
HOPAC follows the Cambridge Curriculum and is accredited by ACSI/MSA.

Position: ESL Teacher (English as a Second Language)
Level: Primary (Elementary)
Start Date: August 2026
Job Summary
The ESL Teacher will provide a supportive, Christ-centered learning environment that enables English Language Learners to develop strong skills in:
- Listening
- Speaking
- Reading
- Writing
The role supports learners from Kindergarten through Grade 12 (with focus on primary level support), ensuring language development is integrated across learning experiences.
Key Responsibilities
The ESL Teacher will be responsible for:
- Planning and delivering differentiated ESL instruction
- Assessing and monitoring student language progress
- Collaborating with classroom and subject teachers
- Maintaining an organized, engaging, and inclusive classroom environment
- Integrating technology to enhance language learning
- Communicating regularly with parents and school leadership
- Supporting the school’s evangelical Christian ethos through participation in staff meetings, prayer times, and professional development activities
Required Qualifications & Experience
Applicants must have:
- A committed evangelical Christian lifestyle and values
- Fluency in spoken and written English
- Bachelor’s Degree in Education, TESOL, Linguistics, or related field
- Minimum of 3 years teaching experience, preferably with English Language Learners
- Training or certification in ESL/EAL/TESOL (preferred)
- Strong understanding of language acquisition and differentiated instruction
- Basic ICT skills (word processing and educational technology tools)
