Headquartered in Berlin, the foundation operates hubs in countries including Rwanda, Tanzania, Kenya, Tunisia, and from 2026 onwards Ghana, delivering structured programmes that support entrepreneurs from early-stage business development through growth and international market access.

Located in Arusha, the hub serves as a collaborative space for startups, founders, investors, and ecosystem partners in Northern Tanzania. It focuses on strengthening entrepreneurship through training, mentorship, and access to business development resources. The Arusha hub also plays a key role in connecting local startups to regional and international opportunities, fostering growth, innovation, and cross-border collaboration within the wider African startup ecosystem.

Overview:

The Finance & Operations Assistant helps with basic financial tasks and day-to-day office operations. This is an entry-level role ideal for someone early in their career who wants to build practical experience in finance and administration. The role works under the close guidance of a manager and focuses on routine support tasks.

The Finance & Operations Assistant reports directly to the Finance and Operations Manager.

Responsibilities:

Finance

  • Help track budgets and flag any spending that looks off
  • Keep financial records up to date and help prepare basic reports
  • Check that expenses stay within the approved budget
  • Process payments, invoices, and staff expense claims
  • Follow financial policies and help make sure donor and legal requirements are met
  • Support audit processes by gathering and organizing required documents
  • Enter and update financial data in QuickBooks and Airtable

Compliance and Audit

  • Support compliance with Tanzanian tax and legal requirements.
  • Keep financial and administrative files organized and easy to find.
  • Follow internal policies and help improve procedures where possible.

Operations and Administration

  • Help keep the office running smoothly on a day-to-day basis
  • Help with purchasing and communicating with suppliers
  • Track office inventory and keep asset records up to date
  • Help organize logistics for events, meetings, and travel
  • Maintain office filing systems and keep documents well organized
  • Support member contracts and help ensure internal policies are followed
  • Use tools like QuickBooks and other platforms to support basic finance and operations tasks
  • Contribute to a welcoming and professional environment for members and partners

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field
  • 1–2 years of relevant experience in finance, accounting, or administration
  • Basic understanding of accounting and financial reporting
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (QuickBooks)
  • Good organizational skills and ability to manage several tasks at once
  • Honest, careful, and attentive to detail
  • Fluent in Kiswahili and English

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in handling tasks.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work well with others.
  • Willingness to learn, take instructions, and support team activities.
