The Role
Reporting to the Head of Global Markets, the Fixed Income Trader executes, manages, and optimises trades in government and corporate fixed income securities for TSL’s proprietary book and client portfolios.
The role demands precise market execution, rigorous risk management, and deep knowledge of Tanzania’s fixed income landscape including BoT auction processes and DSE Bond Board operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute buy/sell orders in T-Bills, T-Bonds, and corporate bonds achieving best execution for proprietary and client mandates.
- Participate in BoT primary dealer auctions with competitive bid strategies; provide two-way pricing to institutional counterparties.
- Monitor yield curve movements, interest rate outlook, and bond valuations to optimise positioning and capture trading opportunities.
- Provide daily market updates, yield curve commentary, and trade summaries to internal teams and institutional counterparties.
- Ensure timely settlement and full compliance with CMSA, DSE, and BoT regulatory standards and internal risk frameworks.
- Maintain trading blotters, books, and records; collaborate with Risk & Compliance on audit readiness.
Qualifications & Experience
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Mathematics, or related field.
- 3–5 years’ experience in fixed income trading, treasury, or capital markets.
- Solid understanding of Tanzania’s government securities market, BoT auctions, and DSE Bond Board.
- Licensed DATS Trader with DSE, or eligible to obtain authorisation.
Preferred
- ACI Dealing Certificate.
- Postgraduate qualification in Finance, Economics, or related field.
- SITI/CITI certificate.

- Trade execution in fast markets; P&L accountability.
- Strong quantitative/analytical skills; Excel, Bloomberg.
- Fluency in English and Swahili.
- High ethical standards and compliance mindset.

- Institutional relationship management.
- Fixed income product development experience.
- Composure under pressure; growth mindset.
