Mwiba Holdings Limited is a registered Tanzanian Company under Companies Ordinance (Cap. 212) and a leading Hospitality company with its Operations in Arusha, Meatu-Simiyu and Mara Regions.

We are currently looking for a Head Guide (1 Position) to be part of our team. The role is based in Mwiba-Maswa with rotation to other employee’s properties.


Key Responsibilities

  • Development and implementation of an extensive guide training program and training manual to the growing guides.
  • Advice on all MHL guiding department standards, taking the current setup to the next level by continually challenging and extending the growing guides.
  • Frequent practice of walking safaris and rifle handling with suitably identified guides, examining their walking safari and rifle experience.
  • With the support of People & Culture Department, identify and recruit suitable local guide candidates with flora, fauna and whole photographic touring experience.
  • Provide basic and general training of new trainee guides, develop the training manuals which will cater for the photographic and African Flora and Fauna experience.
  • Work with management to develop new tour routes based on site visitors have expressed interest in.
  • Include regular update on guest etiquette during daily working session for all guides.
  • Responsible for ordering, storing and stock taking of all guiding equipment.
  • Identify equipment requirements for safari vehicles and guiding departments.
  • In conjunction with the Mwiba Concession Manager, identify new game driving road networks.
  • Oversees guide allocation for all properties in MHL.
  • Working with agents as well as the Arusha base office to ensure guests have a unique experience and are hosted appropriately.
  • To ensure all guiding department projects, if available, are completed within budgets and optimizing resources available.
  • Monthly and annual report compilation and preparation of budgets related with all field guides and general work arrangement to meet the company standards.
  • To reach guest expectation to the highest quality and offering a unique experience.
  • Making sure the camp is in good standard and presentable to the company’s guests in collaboration with the Lodge Manager.
  • Compile monthly reports for social media & websites as well as management.

Professional Interpersonal Details

Education & Certification

  • Holds Bachelor Degree, Diploma and FGASA Level III.
  • Proven proficiency in computerized applications including Microsoft Office Software (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint).

Experience & Skills

  • Over 6 years of guiding experience in luxury safari settings.
  • Deep knowledge of Tanzanian ecosystems.
  • Experience in training development.
  • Strong leadership skills.
  • Physical and mental resilience required for remote fieldwork.
