The role is responsible for leading People & Culture/HR management across WWF Tanzania and ensuring HR practices support the organization’s conservation strategy.

Key Responsibilities

HR Strategy & Management

  • Implement the People & Culture component of WWF Tanzania’s strategic plan.
  • Ensure best-practice HR management across the organization.
  • Develop and maintain effective HR policies, structures and processes.
  • Ensure compliance with WWF policies and Tanzania labour laws.
  • Manage recruitment, induction, performance appraisal, contracts, renewals and exits.
  • Provide HR guidance to staff and management.

Compensation, Performance & Employee Development

  • Participate in annual remuneration reviews.
  • Develop and maintain compensation and benefits approaches.
  • Analyse performance-management results.
  • Develop performance-improvement and capacity-building plans.
  • Coordinate staff training and development.

HR Data & Reporting

  • Maintain accurate personnel records and HR statistics.
  • Provide HR reports and analysis to the Country Director.
  • Ensure personnel data is appropriately stored, updated and accessible.

Occupational Health & Safety

Develop and implement the Occupational Health & Safety Management System, including:

  • Risk management
  • Incident management
  • Injury management
  • First aid programmes
  • Workers’ compensation
  • Rehabilitation

Governance, Audit & Stakeholder Coordination

  • Support organizational structuring.
  • Liaise with WWF Internal Audit on HR audits.
  • Conduct/oversee HR-related internal audits of field projects.
  • Work with the Country Director, Heads of Departments, WWF Africa Hub and other WWF offices.
  • Engage government institutions, NGOs, donors and other stakeholders.

Required Qualifications

  • Post-university degree in Human Resources Management, Business Management or a related field.
  • MSc in HRM or MPA is an added advantage.
  • Membership of a relevant professional body is a strong asset.
  • Proven track record in HR administration and management.
  • At least 8 years of professional experience in Human Resources Management.
  • Strong knowledge of Tanzania’s employment, legal and HR policy framework.

Ideal Candidate Profile

The strongest candidate will have:

  1. 8+ years of progressive HR management experience.
  2. A postgraduate qualification in HR, Business Management or a related discipline.
  3. Strong knowledge of Tanzanian labour laws and employment practices.
  4. Experience managing recruitment, performance management, compensation, employee relations and HR compliance.
  5. Senior-level HR leadership experience.
  6. Strong communication, negotiation and stakeholder-management skills.
  7. Experience with HR audits, reporting and organizational development.
  8. Ability to work with senior management and international/NGO stakeholders.
