About the Role

As a Health and Safety Officer, you will ensure the highest standards of safety and regulatory compliance are maintained throughout the hotel.

This is a vital role in maintaining the wellbeing of guests and team members and ensuring that hotel operations run safely, smoothly and in accordance with national legislation and RIU policies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prior experience in food science and food hygiene is of primary importance.
  • Oversee and implement hotel-wide health and safety practices and risk assessments.
  • Monitor and evaluate compliance with statutory and company health and safety regulations.
  • Conduct regular inspections of the hotel premises, identify hazards and initiate corrective measures.
  • Train employees on emergency procedures, safe practices and first aid.
  • Investigate accidents, incidents and near misses and compile accurate reports.
  • Maintain detailed records of safety inspections, incidents and training activities.
  • Coordinate fire drills and emergency evacuation procedures.
  • Collaborate with department heads to develop safety improvement strategies.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a health and safety role, preferably within the hospitality industry.
  • In-depth knowledge of local and international health, safety and fire regulations.
  • First aid training certification is a strong advantage.
  • Excellent communication skills and a proactive attitude.
  • Ability to train and influence others to maintain a safety-first culture.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools and basic report writing in English.
