Jaza Energy Inc is seeking a motivated and experienced professional for the position of Hub Manager in Tanzania. The role is responsible for driving customer growth, maintaining operational standards, managing Hub profitability and developing local teams.
About Jaza Energy Inc
Jaza is working to expand access to clean and affordable energy across Sub-Saharan Africa. The company builds solar-powered shops where customers can charge and swap batteries used to power their homes.
Since 2022, Jaza reports having completed more than 4 million battery swaps, providing approximately 225,000 people with access to clean, affordable energy.
Jaza also employs women from local communities, known as Jaza Stars, to operate its service. The programme aims to support women to become leaders, entrepreneurs and contributors to economic growth within their communities.
Position Overview
The Hub Manager is a strategic, front-line leader responsible for the growth, operational integrity and financial health of a specific group of Hubs.
The role combines an entrepreneurial mindset with disciplined execution to scale Jaza’s operations while mentoring and developing the next generation of female community leaders.
Key Responsibilities
1. Strategic Growth and Customer Acquisition
- Drive customer acquisition through targeted door-to-door initiatives and local sales strategies.
- Work towards a target of 150 active customers (L7) per Hub.
- Develop and implement local strategies to grow the customer base.
2. Revenue Management
- Maximize Monthly Recurring Revenue (MRR) and Average Revenue Per User (ARPU).
- Manage customer retention and reduce customer churn.
- Support the transition of customers from pay-per-swap arrangements to membership models.
- Monitor customer performance and identify opportunities for revenue growth.
3. Operational Excellence
- Enforce Jaza’s “Brilliant Basics” across all Hub operational standards.
- Ensure full compliance with inventory management protocols.
- Monitor lost and missing battery pack metrics.
- Maintain operational discipline and ensure Hubs meet required standards.
4. Talent Development and Team Management
- Manage the full lifecycle of Jaza Stars, from recruitment and interviewing to development and performance management.
- Recruit and develop local team members.
- Provide intensive coaching in:
- Sales
- Customer service
- Technical inventory management
- Build a high-performance team culture and ensure behavioural and operational standards are maintained.
5. Analytical Reporting
- Take ownership of Hub profitability metrics.
- Attend Hypercare meetings with clear action plans.
- Analyse operational and financial performance.
- Identify challenges and escalate operational dilemmas to the Regional Coordinator.
- Use data and performance information to support decision-making.

Qualifications and Requirements
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in:

- Or another related discipline.
Professional Experience
- Minimum 3–6 years of experience in sales-driven roles, customer relations or entrepreneurship.
- Proven experience managing teams.
Leadership
- Demonstrated ability to train and coach diverse teams.
- Ability to foster a culture of high performance and behavioural compliance.
Technical and Professional Skills
- Data-driven decision-making.
- Ability to quickly understand and apply new concepts.
- Proficiency in online tools and digital platforms for communication, reporting and task management.
