Job Summary

Ahead Africa Solution Ltd is looking for a skilled and hands-on ICT Field Engineer to install, configure, troubleshoot, and maintain ICT and security infrastructure at client sites. The successful candidate will support networking equipment, structured cabling, servers, biometric and access control systems, CCTV, and provide excellent onsite technical support.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and maintain routers, switches, wireless access points, and firewalls.
• Troubleshoot hardware, software, and network connectivity issues both onsite and remotely.
• Conduct site surveys, prepare Bills of Quantities (BoQs), and implement ICT installations and upgrades.
• Install and certify structured cabling systems, including UTP and fiber optic networks, racks, and patch panels.
• Deploy and support biometric access control systems, CCTV surveillance solutions, and IP-PBX/VoIP systems.
• Configure and support internet connectivity, VPNs, cloud services, Microsoft 365, email systems, and basic server roles.
• Maintain accurate technical documentation, including network diagrams, configurations, handover reports, and service reports.
• Train users during project handovers and collaborate with project and sales teams to ensure successful implementation.
• Follow Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) standards and client operating procedures.

Required Qualifications & Skills

• Degree or Diploma in Information Technology, Computer Science, Telecommunications, or a related field.
• 2–4 years of practical experience in ICT or network engineering.
• Strong understanding of:
  • TCP/IP
  • VLANs
  • VPNs
  • NAT
  • DNS
  • DHCP
  • QoS
• Experience working with:
  • MikroTik
  • Ubiquiti
  • Cisco
  • HP/Aruba
  • Fortinet or Sophos (an added advantage)
• Hands-on experience with structured cabling standards (TIA/EIA), cable termination, fiber splicing, and testing using OTDR or Fluke equipment.
• Experience supporting access control systems, CCTV (NVR/ONVIF), and IP-PBX/VoIP solutions.
• Strong troubleshooting, documentation, communication, and customer service skills.
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple assignments, and meet service level agreements (SLAs).

Preferred Qualifications

• Basic knowledge of Windows Server or Linux administration.
• Experience with virtualization technologies such as Hyper-V or VMware.
• Microsoft 365 administration and email/DNS management.
• Experience deploying or integrating Tally software.
• Professional certifications such as:
  • MTCNA
  • CCNA
  • Ubiquiti Certification
  • Fortinet NSE
  • Other relevant vendor certifications
