Job Summary

CRDB Bank Foundation, the social investment arm of CRDB Bank Plc, is seeking a qualified Independent Non-Executive Director with strong accounting and/or audit expertise to strengthen the Foundation’s financial oversight, assurance, governance, and strategic leadership.

The successful candidate will provide independent oversight and strategic guidance while supporting the Foundation’s work in entrepreneurship, financial inclusion, youth empowerment, and women’s economic empowerment.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide strategic guidance and oversight to the Foundation.
• Participate in approving and monitoring the Foundation’s strategy, policies, and budgets.
• Oversee financial stewardship, risk management, and governance practices.
• Monitor the effectiveness and impact of Foundation programmes.
• Actively participate in Board and Committee meetings.
• Support stakeholder engagement and resource mobilization.
• Provide independent judgment and constructive challenge to management.
• Guide long-term strategy, programme scaling, and funding diversification.

Qualifications

Required:

• Bachelor’s degree in:
  • Economics
  • Finance
  • Accounting
  • Auditing
  • Commerce
  • Banking
  • Business Administration, majoring in Finance, Accounting, or Auditing.
• Professional certification such as CPA(T), ACCA, CIMA, CIA, or equivalent.
• At least 5 years of senior-level experience in finance, accounting, auditing, banking, governance, risk management, development finance, or a related field.

Desirable:

• Master’s degree in Economics, Finance, Accounting, Auditing, Development Finance, Risk Management, Corporate Governance, or MBA.
• Previous experience serving on Boards or Board Committees of reputable organizations.

Required Experience and Competencies

Candidates should have:

• Strong knowledge of corporate and NGO governance.
• Understanding of fiduciary responsibilities and Tanzanian regulatory frameworks.
• Experience in risk management, internal controls, and compliance.
• Experience in foundations, NGOs, financial institutions, development finance, or social investment.
• Strong strategic thinking and independent decision-making abilities.
• Experience engaging government ministries, development partners, private-sector organizations, and international organizations.
• Ability to support sustainable socio-economic development and impact-driven programmes.
