Position Overview

The Integrated Care Nurse (ICN) will provide person-centred, holistic, and integrated healthcare services to vulnerable groups, including:

  • Older people
  • Persons with disabilities
  • Individuals with serious or chronic medical conditions
  • Unaccompanied and separated children
  • Other People with Specific Needs (PSNs)

The role will be based in Nyarugusu Refugee Camps, Kigoma Region, working within a humanitarian environment.

The nurse will support improved quality of life, dignity, functional ability, comfort, and psychosocial wellbeing through:

  • Preventive care
  • Curative care
  • Rehabilitative care
  • Supportive care
  • End-of-life care where appropriate

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide integrated nursing care services to vulnerable populations.
  • Conduct assessments and develop appropriate care plans.
  • Support preventive, curative, rehabilitative, and supportive healthcare interventions.
  • Provide compassionate and dignified care to older persons, persons with disabilities, and other vulnerable groups.
  • Coordinate with:
    • Health facilities
    • Protection teams
    • Community structures
    • Humanitarian partners
  • Ensure continuity of care for individuals with complex health needs.
  • Promote patient dignity, safety, and wellbeing.
  • Support humanitarian health programming activities.

Required Qualifications

Applicants should have:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or another relevant health-related field.
  • Valid professional registration for nursing and other applicable health roles.

Experience and Competencies

Candidates should demonstrate:

  • Relevant professional experience in humanitarian and/or development programmes.
  • Understanding of:
    • Gender equality
    • Disability inclusion
    • Safeguarding principles
    • Protection approaches
  • Experience working with:
    • NGOs
    • INGOs
    • Community-based organizations
  • Ability to work independently and within multidisciplinary teams.
  • Strong communication skills in:
    • English
    • Kiswahili
  • High integrity and commitment to HelpAge Tanzania’s values.
