Intern – Marketing and Communications

Role Purpose
The British Council is seeking highly motivated individuals for an inclusive internship program designed to provide experiential learning and a bridge into the professional workforce. This role offers a unique opportunity to gain international experience, develop high-level marketing skills, and support the British Council’s mission in Arts, Education, and Exams.
Key Responsibilities
1. Asset Development & Planning

Collaborate with program teams to identify promotional priorities and upcoming events.

Maintain a calendar of events and audit the existing asset library.

Draft compelling copy and design visual assets for social media and stakeholder engagement.
2. Social Media & Digital Engagement
-
Manage daily social media activity and schedule posts via Airtable.
-
Track campaign performance and compile engagement analytics.
-
Identify and spotlight impact stories and case studies from British Council activities.
3. Event Support & Logistics

Assist in the planning and promotion of webinars and in-person events.

Produce event materials (flyers, name badges, etc.) and provide on-site logistical support.
4. Market Research & Administration

Conduct competitor research and maintain stakeholder databases (VIP and sector contacts).

Monitor media mentions and online sentiment regarding the British Council brand.

Coordinate internal communications between the Tanzania team and the Regional Marcomms Hub.
Person Specification
Required Qualifications & Experience
-
Career Stage: New or recent entrant to the workforce (within the last 2 years).

Socio-Economic Background: Applicants from marginalized or disadvantaged backgrounds are prioritized.

Language: Fluency in English and Swahili (written and spoken).

Technical Skills: Familiarity with social media platforms and content creation; proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Additional Information
