Job Purpose
The IT Quality Assurance Officer will perform quality reviews of business requirements, develop testing strategies and standards, lead functional and non-functional testing, and implement quality assurance processes to ensure software products meet business and technical requirements.
The role will also provide support for the Co Banking System (T24), manage and track system changes, and ensure optimal availability of User Acceptance Testing (UAT) environments.
Key Responsibilities
1. Business Requirements Review
- Coordinate business requirements reviews across functional teams.
- Ensure requirements are:
- Complete
- Precise
- Clear
- Testable
- Work with project teams to ensure requirements can be effectively validated.
2. Test Strategy and Planning
- Develop overall project test strategies and test plans.
- Plan testing schedules and strategies.
- Identify required testing resources.
- Estimate testing effort based on project scope and delivery timelines.
- Ensure approved test strategies are successfully implemented.
3. Test Case and Test Script Development
Develop, document, and maintain:
- Functional test cases
- Non-functional test cases
- Test scripts
- Test data
- Data-validation scripts
- Harness scripts
- Automated testing scripts
- Other relevant testing artifacts
4. Testing and Requirements Validation
- Work collaboratively with business units and project teams.
- Execute and validate test cases against business requirements.
- Ensure test cases are traceable to approved requirements.
- Conduct both white-box and black-box testing where applicable.
5. Software Quality Assurance Processes
- Collaborate with GEA and other key stakeholders to improve SQA processes.
- Adopt appropriate testing tools.
- Develop reusable testing templates.
- Support implementation and maturity of the SQA Framework.
6. Test Environment Management
- Define required testing processes, activities, and deliverables.
- Conduct Test Readiness Assessments.
- Establish appropriate test beds.
- Ensure test environments are available for planned testing activities.
- Ensure optimal availability of UAT environments.
7. T24 / Core Banking Support
- Provide support for Co Banking application (T24) issues.
- Support user profile management.
- Track system changes requested by business teams.
- Ensure changes comply with the DCOE change-management process.
- Maintain and share the status of T24 system changes with the IT Service Delivery Manager.
8. Defect and Test Reporting
- Prepare, share, and periodically review test results.
- Identify and report:
- Defects
- Bugs
- Errors
- Configuration issues
- Interoperability problems
- Prepare test acceptance reports for projects and software changes.
- Escalate problems requiring resolution.
9. Post-Deployment Testing
- Work with business units to conduct post-deployment sanity testing.
- Perform regression testing after implementation.
- Conduct post-implementation reviews within defined periods.
- Confirm that deployed solutions meet approved business requirements.
10. Process Improvement
- Participate in the formulation and implementation of software process improvement policies and strategies for the IT Division.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of software quality assurance practices.
Daily Responsibilities
The IT Quality Assurance Officer will:
- Coordinate detailed reviews of business requirements.
- Ensure requirements are comprehensive, precise, and testable.
- Develop and maintain test cases and scripts.
- Prepare and maintain test data and other testing artifacts.
- Support T24 issues and user profile management.
- Track T24 system changes.
- Share T24 change status with the IT Service Delivery Manager.
- Ensure UAT environments remain available.
- Prepare and review testing results.
- Report software defects, errors, configuration issues, and interoperability problems.
- Prepare test acceptance reports.
- Evaluate application releases against expected quality standards.
- Escalate quality issues for resolution.
Minimum Qualifications
Academic Qualifications
Applicants must have a Bachelor’s degree in one of the following or a related field:
- Information Technology
- Computer Science
- Computer Engineering
- Other IT-related disciplines
Professional Qualifications
The following qualifications are listed as relevant:
- ISTQB Certification
- Project Management certification
- ITIL certification
Master’s Degree
A Master’s degree in:
- Business Administration
- Project Management
is listed as an added advantage.
Experience
Minimum required experience: 5 years
Applicants should therefore have substantial professional experience in IT quality assurance, software testing, IT systems, or closely related technology functions.
