Job Purpose
The Utilities Maintenance Planner is responsible for effective maintenance planning and execution for applicable equipment. The role ensures maintenance plans are available, required spare parts are secured, and the necessary resources are arranged for planned work.
During planned maintenance outages, the successful candidate will monitor the effectiveness of maintenance plans and recommend adjustments when unforeseen work arises.
Key Responsibilities
Safety and Working Environment
- Comply with safety, health, and environmental procedures and legislation.
- Maintain required safety and housekeeping standards.
Maintenance Planning and Optimization
- Locate plant equipment, spare parts, documentation, and relevant systems.
- Develop effective maintenance plans.
- Plan repairs arising from inspection tasks.
- Continuously improve maintenance plans and identify opportunities to reduce planned maintenance outage duration.
- Ensure all required maintenance work is completed without putting the plant at risk.
- Plan maintenance, calibration, and equipment repairs to optimise plant performance.
VPO Principles
- Ensure all work is performed according to VPO principles.
- Understand, implement, and comply with GOP requirements.
- Sustain implemented VPO practices and standards.

Minimum Requirements
- Diploma in Engineering (Mechanical/Electrical) or equivalent, plus relevant trade qualification.
- Trade-tested Millwright (N6) or Electrical Technician (N6).
- Ammonia Category A & B Certification.
- 3–5 years of production engineering experience in an FMCG environment.
- 5 years of Utilities Engineering experience, including 5 years at supervisory level.
- Knowledge of brewing and packaging plants is an advantage.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
