Lake Cement Ltd, established in 2014, is a specialized cement manufacturing company based in Tanzania with its headquarters in Dar es Salaam. The company operates a modern, fully integrated cement plant on a 100-hectare site in the Kigamboni district (Kimbiji village), featuring an installed annual capacity of 1,000,000 metric tons. A distinguishing feature of its operations is the captive 10MW thermal power plant, which was the first of its kind in Tanzania’s cement industry, ensuring uninterrupted production independent of the national grid.
The company markets its products under the Nyati Cement brand, which has become a prominent name in Tanzania as well as neighboring countries like Rwanda and Burundi. Its product line includes various grades tailored for different construction needs, such as Nyati Max 32.5N for general masonry, Nyati Super 42.5R for high-strength reinforced concrete, and Nyati Premium 42.5N OPC for large-scale infrastructure projects like bridges and skyscrapers. In addition to standard 50 kg bags, the company provides flexible distribution options including 1.5-ton jumbo bags and bulk tankers for large industrial developments.

MECHANICAL TECHNICIAN – POWER PLANT
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- Experience: 3 to 5 years in mechanical maintenance
- Educational Qualification:
- VETA Certificate in Fitting, Mechanics, Welding and Cutting
REQUIRED SKILLS
- Fully skilled with repairing mechanical parts
- Able to take an orderly approach with overcoming both machinery and process problems and work with others to resolve issues effectively
- Knowledgeable in welding & cutting & fitting techniques
ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Inspection of equipment
- Dealing with running and breakdown jobs
- Dealing with various improvement jobs
- Doing general lubrications and greasing jobs
- Shaft alignments of machinery
- Bearing & coupling replacements as per standard procedures
- Overhaul of equipment as per Operation and Maintenance manual
- Cutting and welding
- Any other duties as may be assigned
