Emerging Health Initiatives (EHI) is seeking a qualified and compassionate Medical Doctor to join its founding clinical team at a new Polyclinic in Kamachumu, Muleba District, Kagera Region, Tanzania.

The organization is dedicated to improving access to affordable, high-quality, and compassionate healthcare services, particularly for underserved rural communities.
EHI strengthens healthcare systems through direct service delivery, community outreach, health education, and strategic partnerships. As part of its mission, the organization is establishing a new Polyclinic in Kamachumu, which will provide comprehensive primary healthcare, maternal and child health services, pharmacy, laboratory and radiology services, preventive healthcare, and community health programs.
Position Details
- Job Title: Medical Doctor
- Number of Positions: 1
- Reports To: Board of Emerging Health Initiatives (EHI)
- Duty Station: Kamachumu, Muleba District, Kagera Region, Tanzania
- Contract Type: Fixed-Term Contract (Two Years), renewable based on satisfactory performance and availability of funding
- Probation Period: Six (6) months
- Expected Start Date: To be communicated to the successful candidate
- Salary: According to EHI salary scale and benefits package
Position Summary
The Medical Doctor will provide clinical leadership and comprehensive patient care while ensuring compliance with Ministry of Health standards, NHIF requirements, quality assurance systems, and clinical governance frameworks.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide outpatient consultation, diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up care.
- Manage emergency and urgent medical cases.
- Prescribe medicines and investigations in accordance with Standard Treatment Guidelines (STG).
- Apply ICD-10 disease coding accurately.
- Manage NHIF beneficiaries and support claims processing and reimbursement requirements.
- Ensure proper clinical documentation for insurance claims.
- Prepare and review MTUHA reports and other government reporting requirements.
- Supervise and mentor clinical staff.
- Maintain accurate patient records using Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems.
- Support community outreach and health promotion activities.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and clinical audits.
Minimum Qualifications
Applicants must possess:
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree from a recognized institution.
- Registration with the Medical Council of Tanganyika (MCT).
- Valid practicing license.
- At least three (3) years of clinical experience in a busy healthcare setting.
Mandatory Experience
Candidates must have experience in:
- NHIF patient management.
- NHIF claims processing and reimbursement procedures.
- Standard Treatment Guidelines (STG).
- ICD-10 disease coding.
- MTUHA reporting and government documentation systems.
- Electronic Medical Records (EMR).

Working Schedule
