Position Summary
Tembo Nickel is seeking to recruit a Procurement Manager to lead procurement, demand planning, and logistics activities for the Tembo Nickel Project.
The role ensures efficient supply of materials and equipment across construction and operational sites, while maintaining strong compliance with local content regulations through engagement with the Mining Commission.
The successful candidate must demonstrate high integrity, strong leadership, and the ability to coordinate complex supply chain operations across multiple stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Procurement & Demand Planning
- Manage centralized equipment ordering processes for Tembo Nickel.
- Consolidate procurement demands across the organization and integrate them into the supply system.
- Improve systems for demand estimation, ordering, inventory tracking, and shipment execution.
- Ensure smooth supply of equipment and materials to construction and operational sites.
Supply Chain Optimization
- Develop and implement tools to analyze product cost data and drive cost reduction through innovation.
- Identify and implement cost-saving opportunities in collaboration with suppliers.
- Improve efficiency of warehouse and site logistics operations.
Supplier & Contract Management
- Negotiate annual supply agreements with vendors.
- Onboard new suppliers as required.
- Act as the primary supplier contact for:
- Production forecasts
- Quality issues
- Design changes
- Lead supplier evaluations and corrective/preventive action processes.
- Monitor supplier performance across:
- Quality
- Delivery
- Technical compliance
- Financial stability
Stakeholder & Cross-Functional Coordination
- Work closely with internal teams including:
- Legal
- Finance
- Procurement
- Supply Chain
- Engineering
- Business Development
- Ensure alignment on procurement and supply chain strategies.
Compliance & Local Content Management
- Liaise regularly with the Mining Commission to ensure compliance with local content regulations.
- Develop and implement local content plans.
- Work with Finance, HR, and Community Relations teams to produce quarterly performance reports.
Strategic Leadership
- Support construction teams with complex procurement and scheduling requirements.
- Ensure timely supply of critical materials under tight project timelines.
- Drive continuous improvement in procurement systems and processes.
Qualifications & Experience
Education
- Master’s degree in:
- Procurement
- Supply Chain Management
- Logistics Management
- Business Administration
Experience
- Minimum of 15 years’ experience in supply chain management within a reputable organization.
Required Skills & Competencies
- Strong strategic sourcing and negotiation skills.
- Advanced analytical and decision-making abilities.
- Deep understanding of procurement systems such as SAP or Pronto.
- Excellent leadership and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong communication and coordination abilities.
- High-level understanding of local content legislation (mandatory).
- Ability to manage complex, multi-site supply chain operations.
- Strong financial and cost analysis capabilities.
- Membership with PSPTB (Procurement and Supplies Professionals and Technicians Board) is mandatory.
