Primary Purpose of the Position
The Project Assistant – Gender and Nutrition will support the field-level implementation of the WEZESHA Project from Makere, Tanzania, with regular travel to project implementation areas.
The role focuses on:
- Promoting gender equality.
- Improving nutrition outcomes.
- Community mobilization and beneficiary engagement.
- Gender- and nutrition-sensitive programming.
- Routine monitoring and data management.
- Documentation and reporting.
- Stakeholder coordination.
The position is primarily field-based and requires regular travel within the project area.
Key Responsibilities
1. Project Implementation, Community Mobilization & Beneficiary Engagement – 40%
- Support planning, coordination and implementation of gender- and nutrition-sensitive project activities.
- Conduct community mobilization and awareness sessions.
- Conduct household follow-up visits.
- Facilitate trainings, community dialogues and beneficiary engagement activities.
- Promote participation and inclusion of women, youth, persons with disabilities and other vulnerable groups.
- Support achievement of project objectives in accordance with approved workplans.
2. Gender & Nutrition Programming – 25%
- Promote gender equality and nutrition awareness among target communities.
- Promote dietary diversity and positive behaviour-change practices.
- Support implementation and dissemination of Social and Behaviour Change (SBC) interventions and materials.
- Integrate gender equality, protection, nutrition and social behaviour-change approaches into project activities.
- Identify and document gender- and nutrition-related challenges.
- Document good practices and lessons learned.
3. Monitoring, Reporting & Data Management – 15%
- Collect, verify and maintain accurate project and beneficiary data.
- Maintain age-, sex- and vulnerability-disaggregated information.
- Maintain complete project records and activity documentation.
- Maintain attendance registers.
- Support routine monitoring and assessments.
- Assist in preparing project reports and success stories.
- Submit field reports and documentation on time.
4. Coordination & Stakeholder Engagement – 10%
- Collaborate with community leaders, refugee structures, government counterparts and other stakeholders.
- Communicate project objectives and activities to beneficiaries and stakeholders.
- Communicate available feedback mechanisms.
- Represent CWS professionally during field engagements and coordination meetings when delegated.
5. Administrative & Operational Support – 5%
- Assist with organizing trainings, meetings, workshops and project events.
- Support inventory management.
- Track project materials.
- Maintain project files.
- Provide administrative and logistical support for field activities.
6. Additional Responsibilities & Compliance – 5%
- Comply with CWS policies, safeguarding standards and code of conduct.
- Promote the safe and proper use of project assets and resources.
- Perform other duties reasonably assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications & Experience
Education
A Bachelor’s degree in any of the following or a related field:
- Gender Studies
- Nutrition
- Public Health
- Community Development
- Sociology
- Agriculture
- Social Sciences
- Humanitarian Studies
- Other relevant gender, nutrition, humanitarian or community-based programming fields.
Professional Experience
Minimum of 2 years of relevant paid work experience in areas such as:
- Community-based gender programming
- Nutrition
- Public health
- Agriculture
- Humanitarian programming
- Development programming
- Refugee-response programming
Candidates should also demonstrate experience working with:
- Communities
- Refugee or host-community structures
- Farmer groups
- Women’s groups
- Youth groups
- Project beneficiaries
Previous experience facilitating training, mentoring or community engagement activities is an added advantage.

Special Requirements
- Full-time, onsite position based in Makere, Tanzania.
- Regular travel to project implementation sites is required.
- Ability to support logistical planning for trainings, workshops, field visits and community events.
- Ability to track, reconcile and document project materials.
- Familiarity with digital data collection tools such as KoboToolbox or ODK is an added advantage.
- Employment is subject to satisfactory reference, educational and criminal background checks.
- Employees are expected to work from the designated CWS office within their location of hire, subject to operational requirements.
