Job Description

The incumbent has primary accountability for the development and construction of assigned construction projects.

Such projects include:

• New meetinghouses;
• CES seminaries and small institutes;
• Small welfare projects; and
• Large R&I projects.

The incumbent is expected to meet performance standards associated with the cost, quality, and timeliness objectives of the department.

Responsibilities

Project Management – 30%

Project manages the work of service providers such as architects, consultants, and contractors to achieve standards of performance; seeks and provides input to continually improve performance.

Project Analysis – 20%

Analyzes project information to continuously seek ways to meet standards of performance.

Support to Related Functions – 10%

Supports and contributes to the work of other related functions such as Operations and Maintenance by providing expertise and services as needed.

Real Estate Acquisition – 10%

Ensures timely and cost-effective acquisition of real estate properties to anticipate the impact on construction costs and timeliness requirements.

Support to Stake Presidents – 10%

Provides effective project management support to stake presidents to solve their problems within established policy.

Professional Development of Peers – 10%

Contributes to the professional development and improvement of peers by sharing expertise.

Professional Skills and Training – 10%

Develops professional skills and receives training to improve professional competence.

Qualifications

The position requires:

• A BS or SA degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or Architecture, or local equivalent education.
• At least three to five years of related construction field experience, such as construction management; or
• A minimum of three years of strong building construction background, such as experience as an owner of a firm, project manager, or superintendent.
• Proven leadership, business, management, and negotiation skills.
• Ability to communicate and deal with sensitivity and respect with ecclesiastical leaders.
• Ability to work effectively with real estate representatives, architects, engineers, contractors, city building officials, governmental agencies, neighborhood associations, zoning review boards, and other stakeholders.
• Basic estimating, scheduling, and analysis skills.
• Good public relations skills.
• Demonstrated ability to manage people and multiple projects.
• Ability to work well with and through people in the performance of duties.
• Access to and competence in computer support services to perform project cost control and scheduling, and to analyze and report performance.
• Professional certification in a major related profession is preferred.
