About TFFT
The Foundation For Tomorrow (TFFT) is an international nonprofit organization working to provide quality education and emotional support to orphaned and vulnerable children in Tanzania.
Through its Scholarship Program, TFFT supports scholars from enrolment through graduation. The organization also operates a Teacher Training Program that strengthens teaching in partner schools and a Community Learning Centre in Usa River that extends its work to the wider community.
Job Overview
The Psychosocial & Health Coordinator will lead the wellbeing component of TFFT’s Scholarship Program, covering psychosocial support, case management, safeguarding, family engagement, and health coordination.
The role involves working closely with scholars, caregivers, schools, healthcare providers, government authorities, and community stakeholders to ensure scholars are safe, healthy, and supported throughout their educational journey.
Key Responsibilities
Scholar Wellbeing and Psychosocial Support
- Monitor scholars’ social, emotional, and psychological wellbeing through regular assessments.
- Provide direct psychosocial support within professional limits.
- Develop individualized wellbeing plans.
- Refer scholars to specialist services when necessary.
Case Management
- Lead scholar case management from intake through resolution.
- Maintain confidential case documentation.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary case reviews.
- Develop tailored pathways and mentorship plans based on individual scholar strengths and needs.
Child Protection and Safeguarding
- Implement TFFT’s Child Protection and Safeguarding Policy.
- Identify and respond to safeguarding concerns.
- Coordinate investigations with government authorities where required.
- Promote safeguarding awareness among scholars, staff, caregivers, and partner schools.
Family and Community Engagement
- Conduct home visits and maintain strong relationships with caregivers.
- Engage community stakeholders in supporting scholars.
- Organize family meetings and caregiver forums.
Health and Welfare Coordination
- Coordinate health assessments, referrals, and emergency support.
- Maintain accurate scholar health records.
- Work with local healthcare providers to coordinate appropriate services.
School-Based Support
- Work with school leaders, teachers, and counsellors to address:
- Wellbeing concerns
- Behavioural issues
- Attendance concerns
- Safeguarding matters
- Support schools in strengthening their capacity in psychosocial support and safeguarding.
Scholar Engagement
- Support scholar engagement and enrichment activities.
- Incorporate wellbeing considerations into recruitment, selection, onboarding, and school transition processes.
Training and Capacity Building
- Design and deliver training on:
- Safeguarding
- Child protection
- Psychosocial support
- Train TFFT staff, caregivers, and school personnel.
- Develop relevant training and resource materials.
Data, Monitoring and Reporting
- Maintain wellbeing and case management data.
- Track key programme indicators.
- Prepare regular reports for TFFT Tanzania and TFFT US.
- Contribute to documenting scholar impact stories.
Collaboration
- Work collaboratively across TFFT teams.
- Represent TFFT in stakeholder engagements.
- Support organizational priorities including continuous improvement, fundraising, and donor reporting when required.
Qualifications
Applicants should have:
- A Bachelor’s Degree in:
- Social Work
- Psychology
- Counselling
- Sociology
- Community Development
- Guidance and Counselling
- A related field
- Professional certification in counselling, child protection, safeguarding, or case management is preferred.
Experience
Applicants should have at least three (3) years of experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Child protection
- Case management
- Psychosocial support
- Social work
- Youth development programmes
