Job Purpose

The Relationship Manager; Commercial – Chinese Desk will be responsible for advising the Business Banking Commercial department on strategies for growing the customer base among Chinese commercial businesses.

Main Responsibilities

• Actively sell deposits, loans, and other banking products, including forex, internet banking, trade products, and related services, to Chinese commercial customers.
• Appraise credit applications above the Branch limit and provide recommendations for decision-making.
• Advise the Senior Manager on all aspects relating to the development of Chinese commercial businesses, including Assets and Liabilities.
• Take a leading role in driving Chinese customer growth through networking and promotional activities while working closely with Relationship Officers and Branch Managers.
• Build the capacity of Relationship Officers through ongoing mentoring and support to ensure quality credit applications and business growth.
• Review feedback from Chinese customers, market intelligence, workshops, and focus group reports, and assess product design and performance to determine whether changes, redesign, or re-launches are appropriate.
• Coordinate budget objectives in the areas responsible for Chinese businesses to ensure targets are achieved in accordance with the approved budget.
• Ensure customer satisfaction among Chinese customers by providing accurate advice and selling products and services in line with customer expectations.
• Prepare budgets and projections for loan and deposit products, including lists of existing, prospective, and potential customers who may benefit from the products.

Knowledge and Skills

• Good credit analysis skills.
• Good customer relationship management skills and a sound understanding of bank loan products, policies, and procedures.
• Proficiency in standard computer applications, including Excel, Word, and Access.
• Good communication skills.
• Must be fluent in the Chinese language.
• Good business management, leadership, coaching, and team-building skills.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Banking, or a related field.
• At least 4 years of experience in Retail Banking, particularly SME and commercial business lending, and/or a Business Banking Relationship Management role.
• Experience in dealing with the Chinese sector is a must.
