Equity Bank Tanzania Limited is seeking a qualified and driven Relationship Manager – Consumer Banking. This role is central to overseeing and monitoring relationship management within the consumer banking unit to grow the business and support strategic planning through the branch network.


JOB OVERVIEW

  • Job Title: Relationship Manager – Consumer Banking

  • Department: Commercial

  • Function Level: C1/C2

  • Reports to: Senior Manager Consumer Banking

BASIC PURPOSE

  • Oversee and monitor relationship management under the consumer banking unit (Relationship Managers and Officers).

  • Grow consumer banking business and support strategic planning through the branch network.

  • Manage end-to-end business relationships with all stakeholders and branches to foster smooth sales and retention.

  • Design and ensure the execution of sales action plans for consumer products across the network.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Mortgage Sales: Drive mortgage sales to achieve set targets for both New-To-Bank (NTB) and existing customers.

  • Product Promotion: Promote mortgage products including home purchase, construction, refinancing, and equity release.

  • Client Acquisition: Identify and acquire NTB customers and build a strong pipeline of potential clients.

  • Investment Advisory: Identify customer needs, assess risk appetite, and provide investment options.

  • Market Updates: Provide regular updates to clients regarding market changes and portfolio shifts.

  • Business Development: Focus on client mining and keep abreast of market news, financial trends, and current affairs.

  • Cross-Selling: Cross-sell third-party investment products (Mutual Funds, Bonds, PMS) along with asset products like working capital and term loans.

  • Risk Management: Manage provider controls to eradicate risk exposures and ensure adherence to KYC and Anti-Money Laundering (AML) standards.

  • Service Quality: Handle customer queries, complaints, and correspondence in a timely manner as per service standards.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field.

  • Experience: 3–5 years of experience in banking, preferably in mortgages or lending.

  • Technical Skills: Strong understanding of credit analysis, retail lending, and mortgage structuring/pricing.

  • Sales Ability: Proven sales and relationship management skills, including cross-selling and upselling techniques.

  • Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze financial statements and cash flows.

  • Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills.
