Job Purpose
The Senior Business Development Officer II (Portfolio Monitoring) provides critical oversight and performance management for the Bank’s financed projects by ensuring rigorous compliance, proactive risk identification, and effective portfolio monitoring to support sustainable development outcomes.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Conduct regular portfolio performance reviews, including field visits, to assess project progress against deliverables, impact targets, and compliance standards.
- Analyze portfolio data and prepare dashboards and reports highlighting performance trends, key risks, and early warning indicators.
- Lead the tracking, monitoring, and evaluation of financed projects and strategic interventions across the Bank’s lending portfolio.
- Collaborate with Credit, Risk, and Zonal teams to address implementation challenges, repayment issues, and underperforming accounts.
- Prepare quarterly and annual portfolio performance reports for Management, Donors, and Development Partners.
- Maintain a comprehensive and up-to-date portfolio database capturing KPIs, ESG compliance, risk ratings, and project status.
- Support due diligence, project structuring, and restructuring processes during loan origination and loan review phases.
- Identify emerging risks and compliance gaps and recommend appropriate mitigation strategies to safeguard portfolio quality.
- Track and respond to actions raised by Audit, CREDCO, PRC, BOT, MANCO, and the Board, ensuring timely implementation and closure.
- Coordinate with Government Ministries, Development Finance Institutions (DFIs), consultants, and development partners to strengthen project monitoring and sustainability.
- Champion product performance monitoring, product enhancement initiatives, and sales support in collaboration with Zonal Business Development Officers.
- Serve as a risk champion by ensuring compliance with governance frameworks, internal policies, and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications and Experience
Applicants must possess:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Business Administration, Agricultural Economics, Finance, Accounts, Banking and Finance, or an equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
- At least seven (7) years of relevant working experience.
- Strong understanding of project appraisal, performance measurement, risk assessment, and ESG compliance.
- Excellent data analysis and reporting skills.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Knowledge of agricultural value chains, including crops, livestock, aquaculture, agro-processing, and agricultural input supply, will be an added advantage.
- High integrity, adaptability, and commitment to the mission of a development finance institution.
