🎯 Job Purpose
The Senior Credit Analyst is responsible for:
- Making informed credit decisions within assigned approval limits
- Preparing, reviewing, and recommending loan proposals beyond own approval authority
- Improving loan quality, compliance, and turnaround time
- Enhancing credit policies, procedures, and risk management practices
The role also supports the Credit Manager in supervising Credit Analysts and strengthening overall credit risk management.
📊 Key Responsibilities
1. Credit Underwriting & Approval
- Lead complex credit assessments for high-value/high-risk loans
- Analyse financial statements, cash flows, and sector risks
- Conduct second-level reviews for large credit facilities
- Ensure compliance with credit policies and risk appetite
- Strengthen loan structuring to mitigate risk
2. Portfolio Risk Management
- Monitor portfolio performance across products, branches, and sectors
- Track PAR trends, early warning signals, and concentration risks
- Identify emerging risks and recommend corrective actions
- Integrate environmental and social risk considerations
3. Quality Assurance & Compliance
- Review credit appraisals for accuracy and compliance
- Ensure consistency in credit decisions
- Maintain audit-ready documentation
- Support internal and external audits
- Detect and escalate fraud risks
4. Workflow Supervision
- Supervise Credit Analysts’ daily workflow
- Ensure adherence to turnaround time standards
- Oversee loan disbursement readiness
- Resolve operational bottlenecks with teams
5. Leadership & Capacity Building
- Mentor and coach Credit Analysts
- Identify training needs and build analytical capacity
- Support training of Branch Managers and Credit Officers
6. Reporting & Committee Support
- Prepare portfolio performance reports
- Support Credit and Portfolio Performance Committees
- Provide data-driven risk recommendations
- Report misconduct or irregularities
7. Policy & Process Improvement
- Improve credit policies, tools, and appraisal templates
- Support implementation of approval limit frameworks
8. Regulatory & Credit Bureau Compliance
- Ensure regulatory reporting accuracy
- Handle credit bureau processes and disputes
- Ensure compliance with BOT and internal policies
9. Documentation & Post-Disbursement Control
- Maintain complete loan documentation
- Monitor post-disbursement conditions
10. Quality Checks & Risk Analysis
- Analyse causes of non-performing loans (NPLs)
- Conduct post-disbursement credit reviews
- Assess external risk factors (commodity, industry, portfolio concentration)
🎓 Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Banking & Finance, Accounting, Finance, or related field
- Professional certification (Accounting or Credit Underwriting) is an added advantage
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in credit risk, financial analysis, and portfolio management
