About TANROADS
The Tanzania National Roads Agency (TANROADS) is vested with the responsibility of maintaining and developing the Trunk and Regional Roads Network in Tanzania Mainland. The Agency is also responsible for conducting Axle Load Control Operations using weighbridge scales.
The Regional Manager, TANROADS Dodoma, on behalf of the Chief Executive of TANROADS, is seeking qualified and competent Tanzanian candidates to fill vacant posts under the following road project:
Upgrading of Kongwa Jct – Ngambi – Mpwapwa (32.0 Km) and Mpwapwa – Gulwe – Kibakwe (46.9 Km) Roads to Bitumen Standard, LOT I: Kongwa Jct – Ngambi – Mpwapwa (32.0 Km)

The recruitment is intended to strengthen TANROADS’ capacity to effectively discharge its functions under the specified road project.
Position: Senior Topographical/Land Surveyor

Entry Qualifications
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Must be a Tanzanian and hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Land Surveying or an equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
- Must have at least seven (7) years of working experience in a related field.
- Must be registered as a Land Surveyor.
- Must have served as a Topographical Surveyor on at least two (2) projects of similar magnitude and complexity within the last six (6) years.
Duties and Responsibilities
The Senior Topographical/Land Surveyor will be responsible for:
- Conducting and supervising the survey team.
- Planning fieldwork and establishing and/or confirming all control points.
- Performing topographical surveys both before and after construction and establishing survey control plans for GPS and LPS equipment automation.
- Carrying out the primary layout of all elements of the works to be performed, including but not limited to:
- Pipe and drainage systems.
- Structures.
- Pavements.
- Earthworks.
- Leading other members of the survey team, maintaining good daily written records of all works performed, and providing calculations and records supporting all survey activities.
- Conducting inspections to ensure compliance with construction specifications and reviewing construction designs to ensure proper quantities, dimensions, and overall completeness.
- Searching legal records and identifying evidence of previous survey reference points, including geodetic reference points and national benchmarks; analysing data to determine the location of boundary lines; recording survey results; verifying data accuracy; and preparing plans, maps, and reports.
- Reading and interpreting project specifications.
Terms of Service
Contract Period
Specified contract for one (1) year or more, depending on the completion of the project.
Salary
Salary will be paid according to the TANROADS salary scale as per TANROADS Policy.
Work Location
Successful applicants must be ready to work for considerable periods in Dodoma Region, where the project is located.
