2. Objective of the Role

The Service Crew will ensure that construction and service activities within the Underground Mining Department are carried out safely and effectively to achieve established operational targets.

3. Key Duties and Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:

1. Comply with all safety requirements, use the Take 5 safety tool, follow underground operating procedures, report hazards and incidents, and promote safe working practices across the team.

2. Carry out underground ventilation wall construction activities, including scaffolding erection and dismantling, steel skeleton construction, timber works, and site housekeeping.

3. Assemble and install primary ventilation fans and prepare skeleton walls for shotcreting in accordance with approved designs and layouts.

4. Construct underground backfill barricade walls, including formwork, reinforcement installation, timber works, housekeeping, and hot works, in accordance with established procedures.

5. Support underground civil engineering projects by constructing formwork, installing reinforcement bars, building concrete and cement pads to approved standards, and performing other manual tasks assigned by the Supervisor.

6. Undertake relevant training to develop competency in underground air and water service line installation, offsider and nipper duties, underground machinery, and the operation of light vehicles underground, where applicable.

4. Qualifications, Experience and Skills

A. Education and Qualifications

• Completion of secondary school education.

• Possession of a valid Tanzanian driving licence.

B. Work Experience

• Two to three years of operational experience in an underground mining environment.

• Experience operating underground utility vehicles.

• Experience in the construction and erection of underground civil projects.

C. Technical Knowledge and Skills

• Thorough understanding and practical application of Job Safety Analysis (JSA) tools.

• Ability to read and understand work plans and mining instructions.

• Understanding of construction techniques and civil works.

• Knowledge of timber formwork and steel-fixing works.

• Knowledge of hot work execution and related safety procedures.

• Strong reporting and cross-shift communication skills.

• Ability to plan and execute assigned work effectively.

• Ability to coach and support newly recruited employees.
