Store Manager – Dar es Salaam, Tanzania

Reports To: Operations Manager

Job Purpose

The Store Manager is responsible for managing store profitability (P&L), driving sales performance, and ensuring smooth store operations. This includes delivering strong customer service, maintaining visual merchandising standards, motivating staff, and ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.


Key Responsibilities

1. Sales & Store Performance

  • Maximize store sales and profitability (P&L ownership)
  • Implement strategies to improve store performance
  • Use company reporting systems to monitor performance and take corrective actions

2. Team Management & Development

  • Manage, coach, and develop store employees
  • Conduct performance management and identify training needs
  • Ensure proper staffing, workforce planning, and succession planning

3. Customer Service & Brand Standards

  • Ensure high-quality customer service aligned with brand standards
  • Lead training initiatives for staff on service excellence
  • Act as a brand ambassador within the store environment

4. Market & Business Development

  • Monitor market trends and competitor activity
  • Provide feedback to central teams to support business improvements
  • Contribute to new store openings and closure recommendations

5. Operations & Compliance

  • Oversee daily store and mall operations
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and operational standards
  • Conduct audits, inspections, and enforce compliance where needed

6. Facilities & Coordination

  • Coordinate maintenance and operational activities within the mall/store environment
  • Liaise with internal teams, contractors, and external stakeholders

7. Tenant & Retail Compliance (if applicable)

  • Monitor shop standards including layout, signage, trading hours, and cleanliness
  • Enforce compliance through inspections and corrective actions when required

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or related field
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a Store Manager or supervisory role (preferably in apparel retail)
  • Strong skills in:
    • Sales and negotiation
    • Communication
    • Leadership and team management

Other Requirements

  • Age: 25–35 years preferred
