Position Purpose
The Workshop Cleaner is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe and well-organised workshop and maintenance working environment. The role provides housekeeping and cleaning support to the maintenance team while ensuring compliance with site Health, Safety and Environment (HS&E) requirements.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Comply with all HS&E policies, procedures and instructions, including the correct use of safety devices and protective equipment.
- Promptly report hazardous situations that cannot be corrected personally and make necessary changes to eliminate or control hazards.
- Immediately report any accident or injury arising in the course of work.
- Maintain cleanliness and good housekeeping standards within the workshop, maintenance areas and designated working areas.
- Clean workshop floors, service bays, tools, equipment and surrounding areas as required.
- Collect, segregate and dispose of workshop waste in accordance with site procedures.
- Clean and respond to minor oil, grease and other workshop spills using approved materials and procedures.
- Keep walkways, access areas and emergency exits clear of obstructions.
- Use cleaning tools, equipment and chemicals safely and report damaged or unsafe equipment.
- Report hazards, spills, unsafe conditions and other workplace concerns to the immediate supervisor.
- Support maintenance personnel with general housekeeping activities before, during and after maintenance work.
- Maintain a high standard of personal hygiene and housekeeping at all times.
- Comply with all company policies, procedures and instructions.
- Perform any other reasonable duties as directed by the immediate supervisor.
Essential Requirements
- Previous experience in mining or heavy industry is preferable.
- Basic First Aid knowledge.
- Completion of Secondary Education.
- Basic numeracy skills and verbal/written English.
- Ability to drive a manual vehicle with a valid Tanzanian Driver’s Licence.
- General light maintenance skills.
