Role Summary

  • Job Title: Workshop Supervisor

  • Department: Workshop

  • Reports To: Workshop Planner

  • Supervises: Workshop Staff

  • Job Purpose: Oversee daily workshop operations while ensuring strict compliance with Health, Environment, Safety, and Utilities (HESU) standards.


Key Responsibilities

1. Workshop Operations & Supervision

  • Coordinate daily activities: preventive maintenance, breakdown repairs, inspections, and tyre management.

  • Allocate tasks to technicians based on skill levels and monitor progress.

  • Optimize manpower, tools, and equipment to maximize productivity.

  • Inspect defective spares, validate replacements, and verify quality before releasing vehicles.

  • Coordinate with the breakdown and transport teams to minimize fleet downtime.

2. HESU Compliance & Safety Management

  • Enforce compliance with HESU policies and statutory regulations.

  • Conduct safety toolbox talks, inspections, and risk assessments.

  • Ensure 100% usage of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

  • Investigate incidents/near misses and implement corrective actions.

3. Environmental & Utilities Control

  • Manage waste disposal (oils, chemicals, tyres, and scrap).

  • Monitor workshop utilities (water, electricity, air) to minimize waste.

  • Promote environmentally responsible practices.

4. Equipment & Documentation

  • Maintain high standards of housekeeping (5S) and certify lifting equipment.

  • Update and close job cards in the ERP system in real-time.

  • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly workshop and safety reports.

  • Support internal and external audits.

5. Team Leadership

  • Coach and mentor staff on technical and safety matters.

  • Identify training needs and enforce discipline and attendance.


Qualifications & Experience

  • Education: Diploma or Certificate in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related field.

  • Certification: Formal training in HESU / HSE is a strong advantage.

  • Experience: 3–5 years in a workshop environment, with prior supervisory experience preferred.

  • Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of workshop safety standards and maintenance practices.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong leadership and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to identify hazards and implement preventive measures.

  • Computer literacy (MS Excel, Word, and maintenance/ERP systems).

  • Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
