Job Advertisement: Boilermaker – Plant (01 Position)

Bulyanhulu Gold Mine is seeking to recruit a skilled Boilermaker to join our team. The successful candidate will align with the Barrick DNA, drive positive change within their team, and ensure that all activities in the mining department are effectively planned and executed safely, efficiently, and cost-effectively, in accordance with BGML Mining Safety Standards, Policies, and Procedures.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure safe work practices, including attending compulsory safety courses and meetings, using required PPE, incident/accident reporting, and strict adherence to all Safety, Occupational Health, Environmental Policies, and other relevant guidelines.
• Carry out mechanical repair and preventative maintenance to maintain Process Plant equipment safely and efficiently, meeting production and cost targets.
• Interpret, access, and read job specifications, engineering drawings, sketches, and relevant documentation.
• Select materials for repairs, replacements, and inspections in compliance with required standards.
• Properly select and use hand power tools, welding equipment, thermal cutting, and heating equipment.
• Apply oxy-acetylene welding & cutting, thermal gouging, and thermal heating techniques.
• Interpret Materials Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) and plan the logical sequence of welding operations.
• Complete basic welding, heating, and cutting job cards/work orders, including hot work permits.
• Perform fabrication work and corrective maintenance to improve equipment availability, reliability, safety, and functionality.
• Ensure maintenance practices maximize HME equipment availability; meeting or exceeding planned HME equipment availability is a Key Performance Indicator (KPI).
• Assist other mechanical tradesmen in maintenance work as required.
• Complete assigned work promptly, with minimal supervision, to internationally acceptable standards.
• Keep First Line Leader and stakeholders informed on equipment availability status.
• Actively participate in training activities to acquire new skills, develop potential, and assume increasing responsibility.
• Provide on-the-job training and coaching to less experienced personnel under the direction of the First Line Leader.
• Follow Safe Work Procedures and maintenance procedures.
• Perform any other duties as assigned within capacity, without compromising health and safety.

Qualification Requirements

• Ordinary Secondary Education (Form IV).
• Valid Driver’s License with defensive driving skills.
• Basic knowledge of U/G paste systems, mine rescue, and valid First Aid certificates is an advantage.

Experience Requirements

• Minimum of 3 years’ work experience in an underground mining operation.
• Proven experience in multiple metal cutting, welding, and fabrication methods.

Skills and Knowledge Requirements

• Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written.
• Hazard identification and risk assessment knowledge.
• Awareness of Mine Health & Safety Act.
• Strong understanding of underground mining operations and proven personal and professional safety performance.
• Ability to read and interpret paste line and equipment plans, detailed engineered prints, and layouts.
