Position Overview
The Barrick North Mara Team is seeking to recruit a Pump Fitter to support maintenance and repair of fixed plant equipment, ensuring safe, efficient, and reliable operations.
This role focuses on preventative and corrective maintenance, troubleshooting, and maintaining high equipment availability to meet production targets.

Key Responsibilities
Safety & Compliance
- Adhere to all safety, health, and environmental policies and procedures
- Attend mandatory safety trainings and meetings
- Use appropriate PPE at all times
- Report incidents and hazards promptly
- Follow procedures for equipment isolation, working at height, and confined spaces
Maintenance & Operations
- Perform mechanical repairs and preventive maintenance on fixed plant equipment
- Conduct troubleshooting and fault-finding to resolve equipment issues
- Ensure maximum equipment availability and reliability
- Carry out equipment upgrades and modifications as required
Pump Maintenance
- Remove, inspect, and replace pump components
- Maintain and service pumps in line with operational requirements
- Apply knowledge of fluid mechanics in maintenance tasks
Inspection & Reporting
- Conduct pre-start checks and routine inspections
- Perform preventive maintenance (PM) as scheduled
- Provide timely and accurate feedback to supervisors on equipment condition
- Keep stakeholders informed on equipment availability
Work Execution & Documentation
- Follow work instructions, job sheets, and specifications
- Identify required tools, materials, and resources
- Track and follow up on outstanding maintenance work
- Complete shift handovers effectively
Training & Development
- Participate in training programs to enhance skills
- Support and mentor less experienced team members
- Assist with on-the-job coaching as directed
Qualifications
- Trade qualification (VETA, FTC) or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering
Experience
- Minimum 3 years of experience as a Pump Fitter
- Experience in open-cast or underground mining (essential)
- Valid Tanzanian driving license
Skills and Knowledge
- Strong troubleshooting and fault-finding skills
- Knowledge of pump operation and maintenance
- Understanding of fluid mechanics principles
- Familiarity with mechanical tools, equipment, and techniques
- Ability to interpret mechanical specifications, codes, and symbols
- Understanding of machine operating procedures
- Ability to calculate and estimate material requirements
