Branch Manager – Zanzibar Island / Area Manager

Job Summary
The Branch Manager for Zanzibar is responsible for the overall performance, service delivery, and business growth of GardaWorld operations on the island.
This role combines:
- Strategic leadership
- Operational management
- Business development
The position ensures high service standards, cost efficiency, and sustainable growth while maintaining strong client relationships.
Key Responsibilities
1. Operations & Service Delivery
- Ensure high-quality service delivery across all operations in Zanzibar
- Implement and enforce SOPs and operational directives from HQ
- Monitor performance across client sites and ensure SLA compliance
- Lead incident and crisis response at branch level
- Address client complaints and operational issues promptly
- Drive continuous improvement of SOPs
- Ensure compliance with:
- Regulatory requirements
- Company policies
- International standards (PSC.01, ISO 18788)
2. Financial Management & Cost Control
- Manage operational costs in line with approved budgets
- Support HQ in:
- Budgeting
- Forecasting
- Financial reviews
- Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality
- Ensure efficient resource utilization
- Coordinate with Finance and Procurement for:
- Billing accuracy
- Cost allocation
- Timely collections
3. Business Development & Sales Growth
- Lead business development activities in Zanzibar
- Drive new client acquisition through:
- Prospecting
- Proposals
- Negotiations
- Achieve organic growth through upselling and cross-selling
- Participate in marketing and client engagement initiatives
- Meet defined sales targets
4. Client Relationship Management
- Build and maintain strong client relationships
- Ensure client satisfaction and retention
- Identify opportunities for service improvement and expansion
- Act as the main contact for key and high-risk clients
5. People Leadership & Performance Management
- Lead and develop branch teams
- Set performance expectations and conduct reviews
- Promote a culture of:
- Accountability
- Safety
- Professionalism
- Ensure compliance with labor laws and discipline management
- Coordinate effectively with HQ and internal teams
6. Stakeholder & External Engagement
- Engage with:
- Government authorities
- Trade unions
- Regulators
- External partners
- Represent GardaWorld professionally in all engagements
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Service delivery performance and SLA compliance
- Client satisfaction and retention
- Cost control and operational efficiency
- Sales growth (new and existing clients)
- Incident response and resolution timelines
- Payroll accuracy and timeliness
- Team performance and compliance
- Achievement of operational targets (minimum 80%)
- Optimal staffing levels
Authority & Accountability
- Operates under delegated authority from Head of Security (HQ)
- Performance monitored through:
- Mid-year reviews
- Annual evaluations
- KPI tracking
Competencies
- Strong operational and security management knowledge
- Ability to develop SOPs aligned with ISO standards
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Financial acumen (cost control, profitability, reporting)
- Ethical leadership and cultural awareness
- Flexibility to work extended or irregular hours
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
- Minimum 10 years of operational leadership experience
- Proven experience managing Profit & Loss (P&L)
- Senior-level commercial and business management experience
- Experience in labor-intensive environments
