🌍 Position Overview
Bulyanhulu Gold Mine is seeking a skilled Vector Control and Field Technician to join its Environmental team. The role focuses on implementing vector control, environmental hygiene, and site sanitation activities to ensure a safe and healthy mining environment.
You will work within Barrick’s strong values framework, emphasizing integrity, safety, sustainability, and accountability.
⚙️ Key Responsibilities
🦟 Vector Control Operations
- Conduct Indoor Residual Spraying (IRS) according to schedule
- Identify mosquito breeding sites and perform larviciding
- Carry out fogging activities and other pest control measures
- Manage bee relocation, rodent, and pest control programs
🌿 Environmental & Site Maintenance
- Inspect vegetation growth and implement clearing programs
- Ensure roofs and gutters are free from vegetation
- Inspect stormwater drains and support desilting activities
- Deliver organic waste to composting sites and maintain standards
- Conduct daily waste facility inspections and report issues
📊 Monitoring & Reporting
- Record all vector control and environmental activities
- Conduct wildlife and site inspections and report findings
- Maintain accurate logs and documentation
- Report non-conformances and hazards
🛠 Equipment & Safety Compliance
- Perform pre-start checks on equipment and tools
- Operate fumigation and vector control equipment safely
- Report faults or breakdowns promptly
- Ensure PPE use and compliance with safety procedures
🧪 Environmental Monitoring
- Participate in environmental field monitoring activities
- Follow all safety, occupational health, and environmental policies
- Perform additional duties assigned by the supervisor
🎓 Qualification Requirements
- Vector Control Training Certificate (from a recognized institution)
- Certificate of Secondary Education
- Valid Tanzanian Driver’s License (Class C, D, F, or G – Mandatory)
💼 Experience Requirements
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in vector control or environmental fieldwork in extractive/mining industry
- Experience in waste management activities
- Driving experience is an added advantage
🧠 Skills & Competencies
- Knowledge of chemical hazards and fumigation safety
- Experience with vector control operations and fumigation pumps
- Ability to operate mowers and related equipment
- Strong hazard identification and risk assessment skills
- Good record keeping and attention to detail
- Basic computer literacy
- Communication skills in English and Swahili
- Strong safety awareness and discipline

- Ability to work long hours and under pressure
- Rotational schedule (14 days on / 7 days off)
