Position: Credit Analyst – Tourism Sector Financing (1 Position)

Job Purpose

To ensure timely and quality assessment of credit facility proposals (new and existing) using sound credit and financial principles while minimizing risk exposure to the bank.

Key Responsibilities

• Assess and evaluate credit facility requests, particularly within the tourism sector, in line with credit policy and financial principles
• Conduct professional credit risk assessments to determine whether proposals meet acceptable risk parameters
• Independently recommend suitable credit facilities, including terms and conditions to safeguard the bank’s exposure
• Review and analyze financial and operational information to understand profitability drivers and associated risks
• Defend credit recommendations professionally while maintaining good business relationships
• Utilize industry and market intelligence to identify contextual risks affecting clients and sectors
• Build strong working relationships with business units to improve proposal quality and turnaround time
• Share joint credit responsibility for recommended business proposals
• Recommend remedial actions for deteriorating exposures identified during reviews
• Ensure compliance with SLAs while maintaining high-quality credit assessments

Knowledge & Skills Required

• Excellent understanding of credit analysis and associated risks
• Understanding of tourism and related industry sectors and regulations
• Strong interpersonal skills in a business or credit environment
• Knowledge of bank credit products
• Detailed understanding of credit analysis techniques
• Strong analytical and numerical ability
• Excellent communication and presentation skills
• Negotiation and deal-structuring skills

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree in:
  • Commerce – Tourism Management
  • Tourism
  • Hospitality Management
  • Or related fields
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a credit role within the banking sector
• Prior lending experience to MSEs and SMEs will be an added advantage
