Position Details

Position Title: Site Civil Engineer
Location: Geita, Tanzania
Employment Type: One-Year Contract (Renewable)
Experience Required: Minimum of 5 Years


About the Position

GIPCO is seeking a qualified and experienced Civil Engineer to join its team in Geita.

The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, designing, supervising, and executing civil engineering projects while ensuring quality, safety, and compliance with engineering standards, project specifications, and applicable regulations.


Key Responsibilities

The Civil Engineer will be responsible for:

  • Planning, designing, and supervising construction and infrastructure projects
  • Preparing project reports, technical drawings, Bills of Quantities (BOQs), and related documentation
  • Monitoring project progress, timelines, budgets, and quality standards
  • Coordinating with contractors, consultants, suppliers, and other stakeholders
  • Ensuring compliance with engineering standards and safety regulations
  • Conducting site inspections and providing technical support during project execution
  • Reviewing and approving construction materials and workmanship
  • Preparing project schedules and progress reports for management

Qualifications & Requirements

Applicants should possess:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from a recognized institution
  • Minimum of five (5) years proven experience in civil engineering projects
  • Registration with ERB or another relevant professional board (added advantage)
  • Strong understanding of:
    • Construction methods
    • Engineering principles
    • Project management practices
  • Proficiency in:
    • AutoCAD
    • Civil 3D
    • MS Project
    • Other engineering software
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and under pressure
