Job Purpose

The Senior Project Associate (MECC) will support:

  • Field-level coordination
  • Project implementation
  • Monitoring and reporting
  • Stakeholder engagement
  • Community resilience activities

The role works closely with:

  • Local authorities
  • Community representatives
  • Partners
  • Service providers
  • Displacement-affected communities

under the supervision of the Project Officer (MECC/DRR).


Key Responsibilities

Field Coordination & Community Engagement

  • Support day-to-day implementation of project activities
  • Liaise with:
    • Local authorities
    • Community leaders
    • Service providers
    • Implementing partners
  • Facilitate inclusive consultations and capacity-building activities

Climate Resilience & Preparedness

  • Support:
    • Risk management activities
    • Early warning initiatives
    • Anticipatory action processes
  • Assist in:
    • Mapping communication channels
    • Mapping community structures
    • Risk communication activities

Assessments & Evidence Generation

  • Facilitate community entry for assessments
  • Coordinate data collection activities
  • Ensure safeguarding and do-no-harm standards are followed

Recovery & Resilience Activities

  • Support:
    • Livelihood interventions
    • Rehabilitation of community infrastructure
    • Community-based planning
    • Social cohesion dialogue activities

Monitoring & Reporting

  • Maintain:
    • Activity trackers
    • Participant records
    • Feedback documentation
  • Document:
    • Lessons learned
    • Risks and operational issues
    • After-action points

Partner Coordination

  • Track implementing partner progress
  • Follow up on workplans and deliverables
  • Support coordination and compliance processes

Qualifications & Experience

Education

Applicants must have either:

  • High school diploma with 6 years relevant experience; or
  • Bachelor’s degree in:
    • Environmental Disaster Management
    • Development Studies
    • Disaster Risk Reduction
    • Community Development
    • Social Sciences
    • Or related field

Experience

  • Experience in:
    • Humanitarian programmes
    • Recovery and resilience programmes
    • Development projects
  • Experience supporting:
    • Climate resilience activities
    • Disaster risk reduction
    • Stakeholder coordination
    • Community engagement

Additional Advantages

  • Familiarity with IOM systems
  • Experience working with UN agencies or international organizations
