Position Details
Position: Tradesperson 1 – Welder
Department: Asset Management & HME
Location: Geita Gold Mine
Employment Status: Full Time
Objective of the Role
To perform welding tasks safely and according to required quality standards, execute both planned and unplanned maintenance work, and safely release equipment back to operations after completion of repairs.
Key Responsibilities
Welding Operations
- Interpret engineering drawings and blueprints before commencing work.
- Measure and cut materials according to specifications.
- Perform welding using appropriate materials and techniques to join metals.
- Ensure all welding work meets required standards and specifications.
Quality Assurance
- Verify that completed work complies with blueprint tolerances and quality requirements.
- Conduct inspections of completed welds and fabricated components.
- Maintain high standards of workmanship and accuracy.
Maintenance Support
- Execute both planned and unplanned maintenance activities.
- Complete assigned tasks within established timelines.
- Safely hand over repaired equipment to operations teams.
Safety and Compliance
- Apply appropriate welding methods and procedures.
- Follow all safety regulations and company procedures.
- Use correct personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Ensure work is completed safely and efficiently.
Education and Qualifications
- VETA Trade Test Certificate Grade One in Welding or equivalent qualification.
- Good computer skills.
- Valid Tanzanian Driving Licence.
Experience Requirements
- Minimum of 2 years of experience working as a Welder.
Knowledge and Skills
Technical Skills
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering drawings.
- Measuring, cutting, and welding materials to specification.
- Knowledge of welding techniques and procedures.
- Quality control and tolerance verification.

- Ability to apply correct methods while maintaining quality standards.
