Job Purpose
The Senior Specialist – WAN and LAN is responsible for managing the Bank’s Wide Area Network (WAN), Local Area Network (LAN), and overall network operations to ensure efficient, secure, and reliable connectivity.
The role involves monitoring network performance, maintaining network security, troubleshooting issues, anticipating potential problems, performing routine maintenance, and supporting the design and implementation of network infrastructure across the Bank.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage critical and high-impact network incidents.
- Analyze network infrastructure and contribute to network design, integration, and continuous improvements.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify risks, resolve issues, and implement mitigation plans.
- Serve as the technical liaison with vendors to resolve issues within agreed Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
- Participate in ICT infrastructure projects and perform other assigned duties.
- Ensure proper case handling while coaching and mentoring Tier 1 and Tier 2 support teams.
- Develop technical documentation and knowledge bases for issue resolution and remediation.
- Apply strong analytical and problem-solving skills to support efficient network operations.
- Stay updated with industry best practices and emerging networking technologies.
- Troubleshoot and resolve WAN performance, connectivity, and related network issues.
- Design, analyze, and implement cost-effective WAN solutions that meet business requirements.
- Work with communication and network vendors to design infrastructure for new branches and office buildings.
- Research and recommend network products, services, protocols, and standards to improve network performance.
- Design and enhance the Bank’s LAN and WAN infrastructure.
- Maintain technical documentation and network inventories for deployed WAN and LAN solutions.
- Configure and maintain routing and switching equipment for LAN and WAN environments.
- Work with project delivery teams to plan, design, and deploy network solutions supporting Bank services.

- Virtual Private Networks (VPNs)
- Facilitate the procurement and tracking of ICT equipment, software, and licenses.
- Maintain and optimize the health, availability, and efficiency of end-user network systems.
Qualifications Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Systems Technology or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in network and infrastructure management, preferably within the banking sector.
Essential Certifications
- CompTIA Network+
- Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)
- Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP)
- Certified WAN Professional (CWP)
Technical Skills
- Strong knowledge of configuring and troubleshooting:
- Routers
- Firewalls
- Switches
- Experience analyzing, testing, and evaluating enterprise networks to ensure optimal performance and availability.
- Knowledge of network security, including architecture and configuration of Cisco routers, firewalls, and related security solutions.
- Strong expertise in:
- Routing and Switching
- Network Security
- Regulatory Compliance
- Vendor and Contractor Management
- Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills for maintaining secure and efficient network operations.
- Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills with excellent customer service capabilities.
