Job Overview
Elegex Logistics Limited is seeking an experienced Logistics Manager to lead and optimize its transport and supply chain operations. The successful candidate will oversee fleet management, route optimization, cross-border logistics, driver coordination, and operational compliance while ensuring efficient and cost-effective logistics operations.
Key Responsibilities
Operations Management
- Direct daily transport and logistics operations.
- Ensure domestic and regional cargo shipments are executed efficiently and on schedule.
- Monitor overall operational performance to support business objectives.
Fleet & Resource Management
- Oversee fleet maintenance schedules.
- Maximize asset utilization and operational efficiency.
- Manage fleet tracking systems across major transport routes.
Team Leadership
- Lead, mentor, and supervise:
- Dispatchers
- Logistics coordinators
- Fleet operations personnel
- Monitor team performance and promote accountability.
Process Improvement
- Develop and implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Introduce digital validation workflows and performance tracking metrics.
- Improve operational efficiency by reducing transit delays and operating costs.
Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure compliance with:
- Transport regulations
- Safety standards
- Cross-border customs procedures
- Manage:
- Insurance claims
- Incident investigations
- Operational risk mitigation
Stakeholder Management
- Collaborate with:
- Executive leadership
- Clients
- Maintenance teams
- Align transport operations with organizational goals and customer expectations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in:
- Supply Chain Management
- Logistics
- Operations Management
- Business Administration
- Related field
Experience Required
- Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in logistics and fleet management.
- At least 2 years in a managerial role within:
- Transport
- Heavy haulage
- Logistics operations
Required Skills & Competencies
Technical Skills
- Advanced proficiency in:
- Transport Management Systems (TMS)
- GPS tracking platforms
- Microsoft Office Suite
Industry Knowledge
- Strong understanding of:
- East African transport corridors
- Southern African transport corridors
- Cross-border customs procedures
- Transport compliance requirements
Leadership & Communication
- Strong leadership and people management skills.
- Excellent negotiation and stakeholder management abilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in:
- English
- Swahili
