Key Responsibilities
The Airleg Operator will be responsible for:
- Operating airleg drilling equipment to drill blast holes according to mining plans and specifications.
- Inspecting drilling equipment before, during, and after operation.
- Setting up and positioning airleg drills accurately for efficient drilling.
- Identifying and marking drilling locations according to mine plans and supervisor instructions.
- Monitoring drilling conditions and adjusting drilling techniques when required.
- Maintaining drill bits, rods, hoses, and related equipment.
- Reporting equipment faults, breakdowns, and unsafe conditions promptly.
- Assisting with charging, blasting preparation, and other underground mining activities.
- Following all health, safety, environmental, and mining regulations.
- Maintaining clean and hazard-free work areas.
- Completing daily production and equipment inspection reports.

Qualification Requirements

- Valid Tanzanian driving licence:
- Class B
- Class C
- Class D
- Class E
- Relevant equipment operator licences.
Experience & Competencies Required
Candidates should have:
- Proven experience operating airleg drills in mining environments.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in mining or construction operations.
- Knowledge of:
- Airleg drilling techniques.
- Mine safety standards.
- Equipment maintenance.
- Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment.
- Workplace health and safety practices.
- Ability to perform equipment inspections and basic maintenance.
- Physical fitness and ability to work in confined underground environments.
- Training certification for equipment operated.
- Knowledge of:
- Safety systems and incident investigation.
- Mining safety regulations and best practices.
- Crane operations, lifting plans, calculations, and soil inspections.
- Ability to operate manual/stick shift transmission vehicles.
